Okay, this week has been pdl hell week for cannr! Today I received a "letter" in the mail from National Credit Adjusters informing me that they "bought" my "account" (account?) and they want $500.00. Okay. So I read the fine print to see what the hell this is. It's my "account" from Instant Loan Today. Ummm.... really? And they want $500. Ummmm....really? So I got to Bud Hibbs site (thank you, anthony!) and, of course, it's on there under the ugly collection agencies. However, here is my question/delimma - What loan with Instant Loan Today? Loan? News to me. But, doesn't surprise me in the least. Now, this "collection agency", of course, is not licensed. Internet loans are illegal in my state. The option of a collection agency trying to collect on an internet loan is illegal in my state. Let's just sum it up - illegal all the way around. So, do I waste my time (and I do mean waste) and ask for debt validation from this illegal collection agency on an illegal internet loan (that I wasn't even aware of) in which all of this is illegal in my state no matter what? Or do I add this to my stack of trash to put in the shredder?

Cannr,
If IPDLs are illegal in your state, I would advise National Creditor Adjusters to validate the debt and also advise them that their client is operating an illegal business.
I am sure that they would love to hear that.

Okay. Decision has been made. I'm up for it. Now, where the hell do I find a debt validation letter? Is there one in the DYI section that would fit my situation????

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I've dealt with NCA in early Feb this year...I got a call from a Lisa Ray one day at work and she was NASTY- After I had paid several rollovers for Cash Supply- the account defaulted and was bought by NCA- Lisa Ray wanted an additional 570.00 on the account AFTER I paid NCA- Over 200.00....I found this site filed the compaints telling the IN AG that I wanted my account PIF because I had over paid it and no response.....
This company is nasty- I requested 2 times before I filed complaints to get validation and they refused- also they never responded to the complaint I made with the BBB.....
I have not heard from them since.......

Thanks, tweety! Great information for me! I will soooooo do the debt validation letter then. They will probably "disappear". Fine with me. And I got a letter because I changed my phone number. I'm sure I would have gotten a telephone call. Too bad they don't have my new number. And no one in the world is going to get it! LOL! And PDLinvestigator gave good advice. I will have to advise this wonderfully illegal collection agency that they are trying to collect on a wonderfully illegal pdl that is wonderfully illegal in my state! Isn't it wonderful? LOL!

Cannr - Make sure they aren't dinging your credit report with this either . . . .

Ahhh.... goudah. Never even thought about that. The reason I didn't even think about that is because this collection agency is unlicensed/illegal. So.... would they still "report" this? An unlicensed/illegal company putting a black mark on your credit report? I know, of course, that I could dispute it; however, do the credit bureaus verify whether this is a "legit" business trying to put a black mark on your report? Or do they just take it as it's given? This now has me curious.

never underestimate them. cpa has an entire website full of consumer complaints, about how they are scandels, how they break the law, how they have lost numerous harassment cases, and still have not repaid the victims, but yet yesterday they reported to my credit report. I just filed two more complaints with the ftc.
I am totally pi$$ed. they just appeared in my life on monday, refused to give me debt validation, but yet 4 days later they are reporting to my credit report!!!! I don't understand how they can do that

karen, I do believe we might just have to do some disputing here! Pain in the butt, but I'm up for it. I'll have to check and see if I've been reported. If so, it will be disputed immediately. Thank you!

Ok..I have a 'collections' letter, from a CA, conserning an un-paid PDL. Where do I find information, to see if this CA is legit? Also..I'm wondering..if most PDL's are illegal, how can ANY company seek ANY kind of payment?
