Great info. I know that there were problems here in New York with loaning to military personnel as well. Maybe the word is "getting out" on these low lifes and there is light at the end of the tunnel.

not sticking up for PDLs--but one of mine made me check if I had any doings with the military--they and others now will not even offer loans to them. its kind of "funny" but one pdl has a quote
"We will not be able to give you a loan if you are a regular or reserve member of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force or Coast Guard, serving on active duty under a call or order that does not specify a period of 30 days or fewer (or a dependent of such member). Warning: It is important to fill out this form accurately. Knowingly making a false statement on a credit application is a crime."--why is that they can break the law and attempt to get away with it????

Most, if not all of the PDLer's now have a disclaimer right up front as to your affiliation with any branch of the service. Like I said, AG Spitzer banned a couple during his reign as a result of inappropriate military personnel lending. They were just doing the CYA thing so it wouldn't come back and bite them in the butt at a later date. Evil, Evil, Evil.

I agree llw...
some people say all publicity is good publicity..but stories about pdl's are all bad publicity as far as I am concerned...
they can no longer take advantage of military personnel
because government stepped in after problems they caused...hopefully this bad publicity will continue to leak over into all transactions....

'Guest'.....I've seen PDL's ONLY give you a 'loan', if you're "serving overseas." I wish i remembered the name of it..it's been so long now. Apparently.....if you're serving somewhere BESIDES in the US, the PDL company ASSUMES they can 'get you' that way. When I was overseas, we used the computers, at a MWR tent. As soon as you turned the things on, you saw ALL KINDS of ads, for PDL's. " Are you serving overseas, can't wait until Payday?", etc. Disgusting!!

These PDL places just prey on SOOO many. The miltary is pretty strict about 'their' soldiers getting loan from PDL companies. You can actually get in alot of trouble...but, I know a few soldiers who have 'gotten around' the military system and have gotten PDL's. I don't know how, but, I'm not gonna try to. Knowing my luck, I'll get caught!!LOL

sd..have you heard about the no-interest rate loan program that was reported in L.A. times?..(just wonder if it is indeed well known and if military personnel are fully aware that they indeed have this option before being taken advantage from the predators..or if it is only P.R. blowing smoke and not available to everyone in military)

People think that payday loans are designed as scams to rob consumers of their earned money. However, one would need to consider the fact that consumers who apply for payday loans have already considered all their options. In the other hand, why does the legislature, getting in between the payday lender and the borrower? What are their agenda?Solicitation deleted per TOS rules, Shazzers

you know come to think of it that happened to me. every month or so when i got my statement i was noticing this charge of 31.98 being debited from my account. so i called the number and got the run around. in the end i just closed out my checking account. but it really makes me think that here i am stressing out trying to get these monkeys off my back and all the while they're screwing left and right. i remember applying for a pdl and got a messasge confirming that a charge wouold be debited from my account. so i called and told them i did not sign up for that. what i signed up for was if i wanted news alerts (special offers etc.) but there was never any charge listed. (why would i pay for a "special offer allert notice"? then i called and told them to cancelll that. she got a real attitude w/me and then tells me i did not read the terms
are you kidding me??? who would pay for info? anyway after a while i was noticing the charges so they never did cancle and when i called that's when i was given the runaround. and like i said eventuallly i closed my account. now i know what they did was ilegal bcuz they never called to say hey this came back as nsf like a halfway normal company would do if they were legit. i tell you they need to be wiped off of the planet as fas as im concerned.

R U KIDDING ME??? LOOK... EVERYONE HERE ON THIS MESSAGE BOARD AT ONE TIME OR ANOTHER HAD TAKEN OUT THESE LOANS FOR ONE REASON OR ANOTHRE. SOME MAY HAVE WAVED THE OPTIONS SOME MAY NOT HAVE TRULY UNDERSTOOD HOW THEY WOULD BE IMPACTED. I AM ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE. I TOOK OUT A LOAN AND B 4 I KNEW IT. I WAS KNEE DEEP IN DEBT BCUZ OF IT. NOW LET'S BE HONEST MOST OF US EITHER HAVE BAD CREDIT OR NO CREDIT OR MAXED OUT ON CREDIT AND CANNOT GET IT THROUGH A BANK OR C U. NOW IF THESE PAYDAY LOAN PLACES WEREN'T SOOOO DOWN RIGHT SLEAZY AND GREEDY I WOULD BE SO INCLIDED TO AGREE. HOW EVER, WHEN THESE PLACES HIDE BHIND THE BOGUS EMAILS AND OFFSHORE LOCATINS AND SUCH. WELL THAT JUST TELLS ME JUST HOW SNEAKY THEY ARE NOT TO MENTINON THEY HAVE SOMETHING TO HIDE WITH ALL OF THEIR D/B/A'S NAMES. EVEYONE HAS A RIGHT TO OWN AND OPERATE A BUSINESS . BUT WHEN A COMPANY LIKE PDL JUST RIP OFF THE CONSUMER, LIE TO THE CONSUMER, HARRASS THE CONSUMER, AND EVERYTHING ELSE UNDER THE SUN. THEN THEY NEED TO BE SHUT DOWN BASICALLY I NO LONGER TRUST WHAT THEY SAY, EVEN WHEN THEY CLAIM THEY WANT TO WORK WITH ME. WHEN EVERYTHING CAME TO A HEAD THEY DIDN'T WANT TO WORK WITH ME. SO NOW THEY ARE AT MY MERCY AND WILL HAVE TO WAIT FOR ME. TO PAY THEM BACK ON MY TERMS.......
SORRY, THIS HAS LEFT A REALLLLY BAD TASTE IN MY MOUTH (THESE PDL PEOPLE.)
