I tried to post this the other day, but it hasn't appeared on the board for whatever reason. Anyway, my husband and I need some advice re: our payday loans. We have a total of 5 out and all are storefront businesses. Part of our problem with not being able to pay these is that the employees of these stores are people we genuinely like and feel bad disappointing. I am in Iowa.

My husband owes Check into Cash $300 plus $38.89 interest. This was due last Friday and we haven't paid it, are getting calls.

I owe Hometown Cash Advance $445.00 plus $55.00 interest ($500 total). This was due last Friday and we haven't paid it. They called my employer today and told the HR lady (small company so lost all confidentiality) that I neede to call Hometown Cash Advance.

My husband and I both have $445 loans plus $55.00 interest ($500 each) at Chec King. Neither of these are due until the 24th. We should be able to play these without issue, may need to reloan some portion however. This one I would feel HORRID defaulting on because I REALLY like these people plus the manager buys Avon from me.

I owe ChecknGo $445 plus $55 interest on the 24th.

OK, so I contacted a credit counselor type company via the internet and they are taking $200 out of my checking account to start the process of repaying these loans on the 24th. I put 3 loans (all but the Chec Kings) onto the request for repayment help. I have little money in my account right now, but I worry about payday, will the 2 companies that I am currently late with rush to the bank to cash their checks? One nice thing is that since they are in town, so far I haven't gotten any NSF fees from these checks. I know I need to put a block on the check numbers and ACH transfers for the 3 companies in question. I just don't like them calling my employer. Isn't it kind of wrong for them to divulge any info to my employer?

I would put a stop payment on the checks.

It depends what the loan documents say. Many state in teeny tiny writting that they have the right to contact your employer as well as any references listed.

Let's get down to the brass tacks...

1. Call Blaine and let him know your situation. They will not deposit your check, but will call often. This will go on until the 4th of June based on your due date.

2. Tanya will do anything and everything to "bully" you into paying your loan. In my opinion, she blatently crosses the line and gives the industry a bad name. If she gets too aggressive, call the Stuart at the IDOB.

3. Check n Go will deposit your check and then make calls. Not much more. * After thinking about this for a while, Lila will try to ACH your account *

4. If you are going to maintain with Chec King, keep yourself in good standing. Talk to Diana or Chris about buying down to get yourself out of the loans.

Who are you using for the "credit counseling"? Can you still get out of it and get your money back? I can put you in contact with someone that locally that will do it for free!

This was almost scary...seems you know a whole lot about PDLs in my area!!! I used PDL Eliminators. I am now going to have to close my checking account because Tanya somehow got the check to go thru last night and I am now $464.00 in the hole. UGH!

Try to get out of your agreement!!! There is no need to pay anyone a dime for this service. They wil keep taking money, place it into an account and eventually pay your loan off. You can call Kathy at Horizons and she will do it for free!!! They will make monthly payments and the calls will stop.
