Many people on this site have reported the IPDLs to the Federal Trade Commision and say all they get back is a general email response. Truth is that the FTC is extremely secretive about their investigations and will not reveal anything about a complaint or how it is being handled for fear of alerting suspected violators of their investigations. Myself along with others members have been contacted by investigators from the FTC regarding the collection practices of, at least, one particular PDL and were told not to post anything on the internet regarding their investigation for just that reason.
So when you file a complaint with the FTC regarding a PDL or Collection Agency please do not think that your complaint has fallen on deaf ears. It has not. The more complaints they get about a particular company the more likely they are to launch an investigation.

Wonderful news as I just sent them info regarding them violating a cease and desist sent to them over 1 month ago and they are still calling my contacts. I sent a letter to the FTC as well as the Ohio Attorney General as my letter stated to them I would do. I did get a general response and was told it was logged with that companies info and additional complaints would result in an investigation.

Thank you for posting this, I often wondered how it was handled, this is good information to know. It can be discouraging when a person doesn't receive anything but what appears to be a 'general' impersonal email, as a response.

I got the same response as Caroline. All i can say is the more people who report these scumbags the more amo it give the FTC in fighting them.
