Cash Today Limited called from the UK

PostPosted: Mon Jul 02, 2007 12:37 pm Subject: Cash Today Limited called from the UK

I got a phone call on my cell phone from the UK. The message was from Ben Johnson who said that if I didn't call by 2 PM today, I would face serious legal issues. My file was in the investigation department and I face serious actions if I did not call by 2 PM today.

They have also called my mom (one of my references) and she freaked.

I am choosing to ignore this, at least until I get home. Am I right in doing this? I know I have paid back at least the principal (but I have no way of knowing for sure as I closed the bank account that they were debiting AGES ago). Am I doing the right thing? From all that I have seen, they are illegal, but will call you constantly. What should I do?

Thanks!

Do NOT respond to these people. Read all the posts regarding Cash Today. I repeat, do NOT, respond to them. They will call you to death. Do not answer. Tell your mom to not answer. Do NOT send them anymore money. They are totally illegal. They will say things to you that are threatening and illegal. They will call you to death. Please, do not respond to them. Please, do not send them any more money. Read all you can regarding Cash Today on here.

Thank you! That is what I thought...will they contact my employer? I work for the same company, but I have moved to Florida...and somehow my 200$ balance has now become close to $4000.

Stac88 ~ you need to write some letters stating that you revoke your authorization to debit your account and for them to contact your employer or place of employment and any wage assignment. You can send this to them via email or USPS, but if you send it USPS, make sure you send it certified or registered, return receipt. Keep copies of these letters for yourself and also take a copy to your bank and a copy to your employer. Explain to your employer what is going on and what may happen.

As far as your bank account goes, you should be able to look at your statements and see how much you have paid back to these people. If you don't have copies of your statements, the bank can provide you copies and then check to see how much you have paid.

You really should close and open a new account. This company goes by different names and may attempt to debit under those names a few of them are Route 66, GFSL, and GFSIL. Ignore those idiots. If they actually thought anybody would pay an unlicensed company any mind they are truly delusional. And besides, that would mean this dumb a$$ company would have to fit the extradition bill to haul your happy butt over to the UK, all over what? A loan for a few humdred dollars, some of those collectors should seriously consider getting on Last Comic Standing and use some of these laughable threats as their stand up act.

Yes, completely ignore this and every other call you get from these morons. Make sure you get that bank account closed so they cant take anymore of your money, file a complaint against them, and forget they exist. Be sure to check with your bank and be sure they don't allow ach debits to go through on closed accounts because if they do, the payday lenders could get their money and you could end up owing the bank a bunch of money. If the bank says they allow these debits, have them put a hard hold on it first so no debits can come out. Then make sure you open up a new account at a completely different bank.

PostPosted: Mon Jul 02, 2007 4:19 pm Subject: Thanks everyone...

I am going to send letters to my HR department and payroll department tomorrow.

I called them back today and said I wanted a debt validation letter, and that while I was not denying the debt, I didn't know what it was, and until I did, I wasn't paying anything.

He (Ben Johnson) said that I verbally agreed to the loan and took payment back in March 2005. I closed the account that the inital loan went into, so there is no way for them to debit my checking account.

I am going to send a cease and desist letter tomorrow, though I have no idea where to send it via emai, does anyone have that info?). I'm not going to fax anything from work, I might just go to kinkos or something.

I have told my mom (who they called and freaked out), to make a note of any calls she receives from them and they will be reported for harrassment. Thanks to the advice to everyone who has responded, I knew to not freak out when I got a call threatening me.

Cash Today does NOT have an email address. Your contract was verbal. You do not have any signed documents. They are so illegal it's not even funny. Do you have their physical address? They have an address here in the US; however, they are based out of the UK. You've soooo overpaid them that it's not even funny. The address for them is:
Cash Today Limited 1005 Terminal Way, Suite 110, Reno, NV 89502. Telephone 1-800-680-2177 (but don't expect an answer) Another telephone number they have is 1-800-670-4075 (but don't expect an answer). The phone number for my BEST FRIEND, Brian, in the UK is 1-877-210-9423 ext. 5909. The phone number that shows up from the UK is 442084922780. You can send your correspondence to the address in Reno. Somehow or other they do forward it to the UK. Because my BEST FRIEND, Brian, said he received my letter. But I'm telling you now, don't even contact them. Send out your letters. Your bank account is safe now if you've already closed the one out they're making debits out of. My PRIME ADVICE to you, my friend, is to REPORT THESE GUYS TO THE FTC. You need to report to the BBB, the AG, and the FTC and any and all other agencies you can think of. PLEASE do not worry about these people. Do not take their calls. Do not let them take any more money. As long as you have documentation, you're cool. Have as much hard copies that you can possibly have. Any emails they sent you, print them out. Mail everything to them, the AG, the BBB, the FTC. File on-line if your state has that capability. But the more hard documentation you have, the better off you are. Write down when they call you, what they said, everything. Document it all. You'll have all kinds of proof on your side for the agencies when you file. And I mean, everything. Hell, I wrote down the day, time, the conversation, everything when they called me. And, yes, they will try to call your employer. They will more than likely just ask for you. I don't think they'll "tell" what they want to anyone at your work, but they will call your work.

They threatened me with calling my boss, but what I did was take the bull by the horns and tell her about them--and they wound up never calling! The best defense in this case is definately a good offense, so call their bluff and don't pay them a cent more.

Great advice, ks. I actually was able to answer the phone when they called my work. My words were "She no longer works here, can someone else help you?" LOL! They stuttered for a few minutes in their foreign language and then said "no" and hung up. They never called my work again. Yes, they called my phone 1,000 times. Sometimes just hung up. Sometimes left a message. Whichever. I just don't answer it. If there's a way to catch that call and say you no longer work there, that'll get rid of them from calling your work! If not, and you get caught with them on the phone, tell them never to call that number again and hang up.

They also tried to tell me that I hadn't paid them--but I sent them copies of all of the checks I had sent them showing where they had been cashed. I loved showing them for the liars that they are!

Yes, ks!! That's why I'm so into having hard documentation. These lying s.o.b.'s will have a hard time backing up their stories when you start sending copies of documentation! See what I mean when I call them retards? They're so friggin busy harrassing people that they're not taking the time or using their brains to cover their tracks. They leave themselves wide open. That's why I'm not into the whole telephone contact thing. Nothing to have in my hand to prove anything. I thank God I save EVERYTHING and document everything with dates and times. Just trying to cover my own butt, but at the same time, it proves that they are lying to the government agencies. Amazing.

I also think you get what you pay for and they are paying these phone collectors peanuts to do this and they aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer--so it's easy to blow them out of the water.
