I have a few payday loans and was wondering if any of them are illegal in TX...AdvanceAmerica, ACE Cash Express, PayDay Advance(Cash America), and EZ Money. Thank you in advance for any help you can offer

Yes with AdvanceAmerica. Ace won't take anything but the refinance amount and is not willing to make payment arrangements. They are very rude and hang up on me almost every time I talk to them. EZ Money has already put it on my credit, so I didn't plan on paying them at all.

Well some of these companies are registered in Texas as Credit Service Organizations. Meaning they can take you to small claims court and pursue a judgment.

Have you spoken to the store manager at Ace? If they are still being jerks what I suggest you do is call Ace Cash corporate offices and explain your situation. maybe you can work out a reasonable repayment plan.

Did they report it as a collection account or civil judgment?

EZ Money put it on there as a collection account, and I just found that out last night. The thing that gets me is that EZ Money NEVER sent me anything about what I owed or any fees associated with it. The store I got the loan from was not willing to work anything out, and their corp office only called me a couple times. As far as ACE is concerned corp are the ones being rude and hanging up on me. I have talked to about 5 different people and have had the same result with all of them. At this point I'm so frusterated with the treatment I hace received that I don't want to pay them either.

Only a few times before I went into corp collections. I thought that once it went to corp the store had no control over my acct. Another question...PayDay Advance is trying to charge me $90 just for getting the loan, can they do that?

Is this a finance charge applied to the loan?

And as for Ace, all I can say is continue to call and maybe you will reach an reasonable associate. if they refuse to accept any form of repayment versus the full balance then atleast you tried. Even try sending then small monthly payments if possible.

Reason being this will favorable to the judge if you are taken to court. The fact you attempted a resolution with this company.

No that's on top of the finance charge. When I asked the lady at corp to explain the charges she just told me that I was being charged that for taking out the loan.

Wow I would seriously read my contract and see if that was included. I know CSOs are regulated by different laws versus the PDL laws so I have no clue how their charges and fees work.

Maybe others who have more experience will be along to offer more light on that topic.

Are JellyRoll, CMG,Easycash Online, Loan point, Star Cash, Cashnet, CAshCentral (all of these were on the internet) legal in Texas? They are charging some ridicules repayment amounts for example:
Easy-$460.00 for a $300.00 loan
JellyRoll -$570.00 for a $300.00 loan
I had to close my account because I could not handle the NSF fees...so what can I do???
I tried to email each and set up payment arrangements and Cash Central, Cashnet, StarCash and JellyRoll all responded. I want to do the right thing and pay the debt back but I can't pay each one back $100.00 to $150.00 each. So I am going to make efforts to pay back the loans but not what they are asking for...will I get in trouble for that???
