The only way you are trying to help yourself Nick is by making yourself feel good at the expense of others. You may have never found yourself in a bad situation with no where to turn.... Pay Day lenders aren't the "little guy" they're a billion dollar industry that prey's on people that can't find traditional lending. I agree that there should be other ways for these people to be helped. A Pay Day lender isn't your friend they are out to make as much money off of people and most aren't doing it legally. If they were following the rules established by each state and were willing to put a cap on their rates then I would believe they are to help in a time of need. Many can see that people are in financial trouble as they operate under many different names and loan to people two and three times. There should be accountability on their end as well.

banks make much more money, with the nsf fee's, over draft protection and other ways. i don't know how much business a payday loan company does but if ford wasn't making money would they still be making cars? all i'm saying is that read the contracts and pay it right off. so you don't have to pay 300.00 in fee's on a 200.00 loan. pay the loan off on the first pd, if you need money borrow again. its that easy.

I agree with you angell, 100%. We came here for help not criticism! Every body has different issues here. PDL's are loan sharks no matter how you look at it. People run into different circumstances and things happen that make it so you cant get caught up and you end up in a trap. Obviously you have never been there, give it time!

Sir, all it takes is for an illness or unemployment to hit you where it hurts and you do not have any income coming in to your home and you are overdrawn on your accounts (overdraft fees are very high). Then I guess you will change your tune. Answer one question and be honest do you work for an illegal payday lender?

They ONLY TOOK OUT THE FEE!!! They ripped me off not the other way around. So explain that since your so smart!! I ended up paying over $1000 on $200 loans that I wanted to pay off but they would only take their fees! They made a killing of me alone, and I know im not the only one!

Obviously, Mr. Jenkins has graced this forum with his perfection and we should all listen to him. I am sure he has been perfect in every portion of his life and we should be thankful to him for sharing his wisdom. What have we all been doing without him???? How have gotten along in life???

Wow Nick, you are just so much higher and better than everyone else- just because you can pay off your PDL every time. But you are still re-advancing it. You are still borrowing. Why is that...hmmm? You come here and talk down to people because they have taken out PDLs, yet you are a borrower who has turned to PDLs for help yourself. What's the difference between someone who took out 5 PDLs at one time, and you, who just keeps re-advancing the same one for the past 3 years?
Yes, some people take out PDLs and end up worsening their situation. Yes, some people take out PDLs and abuse them by using them for frivolous things rather than for food and necessities. But once again, you are painting the picture with to broad a brush. Everyone's situation is different. I myself have gotten caught up in the PDL trap. But I have paid off every one of them in full and because I don't want to have to deal with the harassing phone calls, have paid back in full even to the illegal companies. However, some others here cannot go the same route I have, and either have to close down their bank accounts or have to reach settlements with the lenders via legal means. They have never treated me differently because I have handled my situation in a different way, and I am not going to treat anyone here any differently because they have gone about handling their situation in a different manner. So I really am shocked by your audacity to claim you came here "to get help" and knock around those who came for help as well, even if they may apply the help in a different way then you would.
No one here advocates ripping off or stealing from anyone. So it makes me angry that you come here and take the information people have worked so hard to gather and organize, take it as help, and then turn around and then turn around and launch a verbal jihad upon them for extending that help in the first place.
Oh wait, I forgot, you are above help and good advice. You are a certified, PDL-wrangler, who has managed to tame the same one for the past 3 years.
Let me give you some of your own advice. Stop taking out PDLs. How bad is that?

I am not going to advocate for N Jenkins or the PDL industry, but I have used PDL's and they served their purpose. I paid 585.00 back on a 500 dollar loan I had for almost 3 weeks. It covered the deductible on my insurance to fix a car I can't work with out. I was thankful for the help. As for 99% of PDL lenders operating illegally as stated above, I am going to venture a guess that you should say internet PDL's operating illegally. Storefronts are almost always operating under the laws of their state. I wish I always had an alternative to PDL's but with my ARM on my home, sometimes I'm lucky to have top ramen. I don't advocate payday loans, but what I have found is it is often times cheaper to pay 15 dollars to borrow a hundred than pay $100 for a bounced 20 dollar check.

Hello Guest -
Yes, I do agree personally that in times of great need, if used responsibly, payday loans can be helpful. However, I still believe there need to be tougher laws that they need to follow. People need to borrow responsibly, but the companies need to lend responsibly.
My main reason for my response was that Jenkins came here, acting high and mighty and talking down to people for being "stupid" enough to get caught up in payday loans, when he just admited that he borrows gobs of money from PDL lenders all the time. In some other thread he stated that he just recently took out $1300. In this one, he claims he has been "responsibly borrowing" for the past 3 years. Honestly, if he were responsible with his money and his borrowing as he claims, then he wouldn't be borrowing every payday for the past 3 years in a row.
I would not judge his situation, if it were not for the fact that he judges others here.
