I have defaulted on them and am in the "limbo period". I had closed out my bank account, and opened a new one at a whole different bank. Well, now I am leary because my Imagine credit card comes right out of my account. I would like to set up the ACH payment on my new account, but not sure.. As a matter of fact, I pay ALL my bills online. Is it still ok to do that or will it make my new account somehow fall into the hands of the pdl's?

thanks!
Laura

ok good. I really would hate to have to actually use the checks I bought for my account. LOL I was just worried about getting my new account number in the hands of others.
thanks Paul

Usually old debts from pdl companies obtain information about new accounts if you apply for another internet payday loan, as long as you don't do that, you should be OK. At least I've never had any problems. Smile

Yes, there is a chance they can still find your new account.

It is rare, but it does happen. There are ways. For instance, if you new bank ran a chexsystems report on you when you opened the account, the pdl can check that report, see the inquiry, and use the contract you signed giving them authorization to debit any account you may be a signer on in case of default to debit that new account.

So if it WOULD happen, since I didn't authorize the debit does the revocation letter I sent them hold with the new account? These things just follow and haunt you. The new bank did run me through chexsystems because I told them what had happened when I applied for the account and told them I wasn't sure if I was on it or not.

I worried about that at first as well, but I don't give it much thought these days. I am hopeful that it is all behind me.

well i thought that if you didn't authorized them to take anything out of your new account then they have no right to touch your money.

According to Goudah, the original contract apparently has a clause in it which allows them to debit any account that you are a signer on, if you default on the loan. She did say that it is rare though.

Yeah, there are only a few companies that do this. And you can have it reversed if it happens.
