The Little loan shop responded to my letter thru email this is what they responded please help me to respond to them:

Karla,
I am not sure if you remember but we have your ACH revoke already. Also you are so smart on the PAY DAY LOAN laws for California, but it just so happens we are a SHORT TERM LOAN company and are based out of UTAH so the contract that you signed (without reading) binds you to UTAH laws for not PAY DAY LOANS but SHORT TERM LOAN there is a difference, so I would do some more RESEARCH and discuss the difference with your Attorney General. If you have any questions please feel free to email. Also I show your current balance at 400.00 to Pay in full. I also sent you another email with you own copy of the documents you signed so you may have more information to show and discuss with your Attorney General. I sure look forward to hearing from you.

Thank You,

Lawrence T

You can look your Attorney General up on the internet. As far as responding to the email, I wouldn't. They are trying to get your "goat" as they say. Don't take yourself down to their level. Do what needs to be done, get your complaint filed and let them blow smoke up someone elses butt. Don't let them intimidate you. Short Term loan/payday loan....way I see it, they are the same.

Short term loan and payday loan are not the same thing. Just because they are the same "in your mind" doesn't mean anything.

You live in CA therefore your state laws prevail.

I agree with Shazzers. Have them send you their license number. You should also be able to check yourself to see if they are licensed in your state.

if i am not mistaken, this pdl is licensed in utah.that being said they are NOT licensed in CA.therefore they are illegal in CA.to frank the troll, there is no difference between pdl and what they are calling a short term loan.there is installment loans, signature loans, title loans.this company is an illegal pdl in CA....NUFF SAID.

I have looked them up on the BBB website and they have an unsatisfactory rating. They are not a member of the BBB and there have been complaints filed against them. They do fall into the catagory of payday loans.

I had a loan with the LLS and they tried to pull that installment BS on me. I told them to kick rocks, I paid 45% over what I borrowed and they still wanted more with their 10 installment repay plan(which I never agreed to) Evil or Very Mad So I filed letters and made calls. They wrote me letter saying they are willing to settle with me at a reasonable solution. I said "PIF" letter PLEASE..LOL!

you can also contact the Utah Dept of financial institutions and check on how they are licensed, along with filing a compliant if warranted

followup, the closest I can find in Utah is LLS AMERICA, LLC, which I am pretty sure is them. What they are doing is evading pdl laws by creating a payday installment loan that charges pdl interest... as posted above your state's laws will prevail, and a the very least usury laws should come into play here.. in fact that level of interest may in fact be criminal in some states.. I would file complaints with the california dept of financial institutions immediately. I would also ask the state of utah about its rules regarding ineterest rates for installment loans and if you think that they are violating them, file a complaint there as well. Make sure that the "little loan shoppe knows what your doing" scare them a little.
