So I have not posted much here, but been a lurker for a while. Got in trouble with internet PDL's. The Loan Shop got me and I closed bank account. They started calling me threatening me. I just laughed it off b/c I knew the laws. Anthony Carter called me one day- trying to disguise his voice and said "B!TCH I'm coming after you!"
I fired off a letter to the State attorney general's office, the BBB and a letter to them citing our state's laws regarding PDL's and said they were blatantly breaking the laws in our state and cited the state's PDL laws. I offered to pay them the principle and the max interest in my state which is 15% and call it a day.
TODAY I get an email from them. This is what it says:
"SETTLEMENT OFFER: ACCOUNT CLOSED "
Your account will be closed IMMEDIATELY upon receipt of the attached release form.
There absolutely will not be any collection activity taken against you and this email is meant to confirm that in writing.
HALLELUAH!
So I just have to sign the release.
Anyone else ever had this success?

alot of pif and refunds from loan shop lately.
that is great.hopefully it is a sign at least one pdl is doing the right thing.

Well, yet another person with a PIF from Loan Shop! I posted my saga in another thread here called "Loanshop Questions."
Basically I had an old loan I had defaulted on, and they were harassing me to no end. I filed complaints with BBB, AG, FTC, and sent an email (which is in the thread, page 2) to William Mashburn. The very next day I get an email releasing me from the loan, I just have to sign and fax it back!
If Loan Shop is harassing you, there is definitely hope! Stick to your guns!

No, there was no confidentiality clause listed. Just release & non-admission statements.
