I live in Maryland.
My husband lost his job about 6 months ago and I resorted to PDL's to help supplement our income for rent and living expenses. I have 2 kids with one on the way and I need to get out of this...Lesson learned.
I truly need help getting out of this mess I am in. I called a PDL consolidation company and they were going to charge me $200 to work with them to consolidate the internet PDL's. They said there is nothing they can do about the storefront. Before I signed up I found your forum...I hope I can get some resolutions...
I have 5 internet pdls as follows:
Access Processing
*Cannot get address to mail letter to.
*Originally borrowed 600
*Paid back 480.
National Money Store
*Mailed certified letter with return reciept requested.
*Originally borrowed 500
*Paid back 316.64
MMG Holdings
*Mailed certified letter with return reciept requested.
*Originally borrowed 300
*Paid back 720
JD Marketing
*Mailed certified letter with return reciept requested.
*Originally borrowed 300
*Paid back 360
Zip Cash
*Mailed certified letter with return reciept requested.
*Originally borrowed 400
*Paid back 945
Store Front PDL's
Advance America - located in Delaware
*Originally borrowed 500
*They make you redo an application after the 5th roll over...I have bee doing this for 6 months!
*$85 per roll over
Easy Cash - located in Delaware
*Originally borrowed 600
*They make you redo an application after the 5th roll over...I have bee doing this for 6 months!
*$120 per roll over
I have copied these letters to:
*Attorney General of Maryland
*Federal Trade Commission
*Maryland Office of Financial Regulation
*BBB
I also tried to contact the ACH Processors to revoke authorization however was told by BOTH MoneyGram and Bay City Processing that they cannot stop it i must contact the company directly.
I contacted my bank to put stop pays on them but the companies split the amounts up into different ACH's so they went thru. My bank Blocked my account for any furthur transactions and opened a new account for me. I am just afraid that they will get to that one too.
Any assistance you may give would help me greatly...[/list]

Caroline, you are on the right track. Excellent work with the bank. I had to open my account at the same bank and have had no problems. Just check it daily, several times a day. Usually the bank is one of the more difficult parts of this. Now they have no access to your money...Great!! Let me say this first...Advance America and EZ Cash of DE (I am not sure if this is the same one you posted) are part of the CFSA..what this means is that you can go into the store no later than the day before your loan is due and ask for an extended payment plan (epp) they will break the payments up into 4 equal payments to get them paid off. You can read more about the CFSA at CFSA.net

Caroline, Here are my thoughts on this and I am sure others will add their own....
We always advocated to pay back the money borrowed, however, be sure to the rent, food, electric, etc. are paid first.
You need to write the pdls letters stating they are not licensed in your state in fact, they are not permissible by your state laws. You can also propose a payment plan (for Access Processing and Money Store) at that time...do not give them your new account information...
The last three you listed, you have overpaid. In my letter I would tell them you have overpaid and you are demanding a refund. You may or maynot get it however, it is worth a try.
Here is letter you can use as a template to modify and send to the pdls....

IF you have any questions, I know I threw alot at you....please come back and post them.

Wow...your background is so very similar to my own. My heart goes out to you! First things first, I am glad your bank blocked and closed your account. I think this account will be safe but to be on the safe side, send the same ach revoke letter and include a statement blocking debits from any and every account at any financial institution. This way you have back up and are proactive with the bank if they try the new account.
next NOW MORE PDL'S don't use your new account number online with ANY pdl's.
Above and beyond that I know the vetern members here will be of great assistance!
