For whom do they collect? I am assuming it is an internet PDL--one of the ones that already got a C&D from me. I got a call from a "paralegal" from "National Attorney".

Hmmm, I didn't have a PDL with them. I wonder who else they might collect for?

cdollar, I received several collection calls becuase of my pdls. I just send them a request for debt validation...do not even bother talking to them. I fax it first and send it certified return receipt. If you need a copy of one let me know. That generallly stops them from calling.

What address did you use for them? The BBB says they are located in OH but their website says CA.

cdollar, does the web site have an address or even if there is a phone number you can trace it backwards. Did you use the phone number they called from to trace them on the BBB web site? If so, I would use that address.

Seems like alot of these 'Lawyer type' offices, come out of California. Are they a CA or a REAL office?

NAS is a joke. They tried collecting an illegal pdl debt from me. I sent them a debt validation letter and got a response from them that would have you laughing on the floor if you saw it. Incredible. Do you need an address on them?

Have a question........if someone is in 'default' of a PDL, and the PDL sends this to a CA,...can the CA LEGALLY try to collect, KNOWING the % rates, on these PDL's are illegal? Does it depend on what state you live in?, etc.

sd, depends. Is the pdl legal or illegal? Is the CA legal or illegal? Is the debt considered a legal debt in your state? In my situation, internet pdls are not considered "legal debts", so any CA trying to collect on them is just swimming upstream. They're not getting anywhere LEGALLY. Harrassing, maybe - but legally - no. Plus the fact that some CA's aren't even licensed/legal themselves.

stargzr, you wouldn't even believe what they sent back as validation. One sheet of paper that looked like they wrote it out with a magic marker. Only had a dollar amount (that they wanted) and my name and address. HELLO!!!!! Now... let's all go look up the definition of "validation". Laughing

'Cannr'......i thought ALL of PDL's were illegal, because of the % they charge (even though most of us HAVE gotten PDL's, in the past). How could an % rate, like the ones PDL's charge, be legal!? Can you 'enlightened, a bit, which ones COULD be legal.

Most storefronts are legal....they charge the prescribed rate as outlined within the state laws. There are also a few internet PDL's that are legal...such as CashnetUSA and Cash Central. BOth of them are CFSA members and charge the legal rate.

Exactly as volley stated! Very Happy Storefronts will be legal. And, believe it or not, SOME internets are legal! They have to be licensed to lend. That's why we check the pdl law for the states - to see if they are actually abiding by the state law. Make sense? I know it's confusing...........

How can ANY PDL be legal, in ANY state..with the % they charge?! If someone has to go to court, concerning a PDL, wouldn't the Judge just laugh? Yep..it IS confusing.
