I received a 300 payday loan not from this company, but this Northway debt took out 2 withdrawals from my bank account the same day fore 190.50. How can I get in touch with them and get my money back?

Who did you take the loan with? I think you'll find that the company you did take the loan with is the same as Northway, they just use a different name for the debits.
They split the debit up into two withdrawals so if you don't have sufficient funds for the full whack, they'll most likely get one of the debits to go through. If you borrowed $300, I'm guessing your total amount to repay with the finance charge is the $381?

Do you have the loan with Sonic Payday or Cash Transfer Centers? This company has many alias names but they mostly deduct the money from the checking accounts under these company names. Dispute the charges with your bank. They should help you in reverting the charges if you show proof that their debit is unauthorized.

Cash Tranfer Centers takes the money under the name Northway and the take it in two withdrawals at the same time. I imagine Sonic does the same thing. I had some messy dealings with them when I defaulted. They are based out of Malta and are not licensed in the US in any state that I know of.

frog is right. I had Cash Transfer Centers and it's Northway Financial that they use as their debit name. And it came out in two separate debits. Illegal company. Overseas illegal company. Was it Cash Transfer Centers???

I have a loan with Cash Transfer Centers also, and yes, two debits to Northway Financial. I wasn't aware that they were an overseas illegal company though...thanks cannr!

You're welcome, tukki! I just so happen to get all the illegal ones! LOL! But I guess that's a good thing. They don't have a leg to stand on!

kim, they're not going to give you one of the debits back. What they do is take the full amount out of the loan (which apparently was $381 with their fee) in two separate debits. With them, they don't do "extensions". They take the entire amount out. Just breaking it into two separate debits.

I took out a loan for $200 and was charged $54 in fees. I'm in ohio and I just learned that the max fees are $15 per $100. Now i'm learning that Northway(cash transfer centers) isn't licensed. I did default and now they're threatening to contact my employer. What should I do. I don't think I should have to pay more in fees than what they're "allowed" to charge.

ckent, first thing you have to do right now is type up a letter to them. Short and sweet. Stating that you revoke any wage assignment you may have signed with them. Do it now! All you have to do is type it up addressed to them. State "I (your name) revoke any wage assignment I may have signed with your company or any of your affiliates." Then type your name. SEND it to them via fax/email/mail. Do this now! They are known for sending wage assignments to employers and trying to get money out of people's paychecks. You have to revoke it BEFORE they send it to your employer. Please, do this now!

Thanks cannr. I just typed it up and faxed it out. How can these people get away with pretending to be legit?

ckent, it's amazing. The most ILLEGAL ones are the ones that press their luck the furthest. They are the nastiest. But, think about it, if you're already soooo illegal, what the hell? Why not go for it and go all the way and push everything to the limit? What have you got to lose? Nothing. That's why they are the most ruthless. Just my opinion. But, this is the trend I see and what I've experienced! The more illegal they are, the nastier they are!

Sorry, I was so busy venting, I forgot to tell you something! Give a copy of that letter revoking any wage assignment to your payroll department. They don't need to know any details. Just tell them an illegal company has access to your information somehow and you would like that letter placed in your file just in case they try to do something regarding your pay. This way your payroll department will have a copy. A "wage assignment" is voluntary. It is not required to be done by your employer. But most employers don't know this. But since you've done the letter, give them a copy, and you're covered. I just want you to be on the safe side from these illegal idiots!

Thanks again cannr. I didn't even think of that. I can just picture them saying they didn't get my letter. The "lady" I've spoken to from Northway is about as pleasant as having lemon juice poured in an open wound.

LOL! I love it! Pleasant, aren't they? Yes, give your copy to your payroll person. And, of course, keep a copy for yourself. I, too, can see them saying "We didn't get any letter." Good Lord!
