Has anyone worked with Wachovia before and know how well they are with helping in these situations. I live in NY if that helps.

PDL's are illegal in NY, I wasn't sure if you were aware of that or not. Internet payday lenders are not legal, either because of restrictive laws, or because the state does not license companies not located in that state, but requires a state issued license to lend.

Licensed lender law applies but interest rate is that agreed to by contract. N.Y. Banking Law § 340 et seq. A check casher licensee cannot make loans nor cash or advance any moneys on a post dated check unless it is a payroll check. N.Y. Banking Law § 373. Criminal law sets the usury cap at 25%. N.Y. They are no help whatsoever. Those companies kept debting my account and I contacted the bank, explained what was going on and even told them about the letters revoking any debits. They wouldn't even let me close my account until it had a 0 or positive balance. I just changed my direct deposit over to one of those pre-paid debit cards and eventually they closed the account (only after letting it be debited numerous times and charging me NSF fees). I wish you luck in dealing with them.

Hello. I have had numerous accounts with Wachovia. When this start going on I reported it to the Dispute Dept for Wachovia and they placed a block on those debits that kept coming through. The only thing about this is that when the block is placed it is only placed for that company I.D. Number meaning if they send it through with another I.D. the bank cannot block it. They will tell you most of the time to close the account if you have a positive balance and then reopen another account. Also if those debits are actually posting to your account then you can called the dispute dept at Wachovia and they will credited back to your account. Just tell them that they are unathorized debits from an illegal loan company and that you have paid what you needed and talked with the state of whoever banking Dept and they will credited back that amount. Trust me I went through the same thing. I love Wachovia by the way!!!
