Ohio PDL's

I have noticed in the past few weeks that quite a lot of the payday loans are closing in the Akron and Canton area. I wonder if there will be a mass exodous once the new PDL laws go into effect in late August.

They are doing the same here in Columbus. But its not over yet, the AG ruled on the language for the petition. If they get enough people to sign they can go on until election day. The Columbus Dispatch has some interesting articles in their paper.

OH no Ryan, so they got the ok then...So does that mean they will hold off closing until they see if they have enough signatures? I've not noticed any store closing around here, which ones have you seen? Reny

When I went to pay one of the storefront pdls, the lady took my money then sweetly informed me that I couldn't borrow anymore. That was about a month ago and that led me to pull the trigger and do what I could to stop this cycle. I was one of the many who borrowed from one to pay another. Without being able to borrow from that place again, I was in trouble.

Yeah,we can actually see where our money goes now. We have to catch up on utilities and stuff, but we actually have "spending" money this month. Meaning we can buy...UNDERWEAR! This might seem trivial to you, but when you're under the thumb of these pdls, little things like buying underwear for your kids becomes a problem!!!

Lmale- National Check Cashers has closed a lot of stores but kept a few open. They have a note saying go to this store now. There was a place on Roberts and Rome Hilliard (small company) that closed up. I forget their name to be honest with you.

I think I read where if they can get enough signatures for the ballot then the new law waits until November. But, I'm not 100% sure of that, I think I read it in the dispatch.

Yeah, it's 241,000+ signatures they need to get it on the ballot. I hope that falls through.

Once they get the 240k signatures, is the law on hold until the voters get to vote?

Also 1st Choice Cash Advance closed. This was was the store on Rome-Hilliard and Roberts. I couldn't think earlier today but the name hit me.

But I noticed a few stores for National is closed now. They have a note on their door saying due to the new law we have closed this office and the nearest store is at X location. I'm not sure how many they closed, but I know two in Columbus for sure with that note.

Hi,

Also from Canton, and I can add American Payroll Advance and Cash Connection to the list of those that are gone. Also heard VRS has closed, though I never used them. The BIG corporates haven't packed up yet, though. (Unfortunately).
