Hi, I received a loan from Pay Check today back in May in the amount of 300.00, I ended up paying 420.00 for it. I live in the state of Maine. I found on this site (thank you) that this PD lender is not licensed to practice in my state, I sent them all the suggested letters, via email, and certified mail. ( I do have my receipt). I also closed my checking account thanks to your good advice. I also requested a refund of the amount I overpaid, but as you can imagine, I have not heard from them since. I am now being contacted by Accounts Receivable Management (ARM) of Florida. Initially they were threatening, would not send me any verification,etc..so I just hung up on them. I received another call today (at work) and the person on the phone was actually pleasant and gave me the collection companies mailing address. My question now is: What do I need to send them in order to get them off my back as well? I really appreciate all the help you give on this forum!

send a debt validation letter.send it certified mail return receipt.also include your state pdl laws.include that paycheck today is not licensed in maine, and you paid 420.00 on a 300.00 loan.you owe nothing on this.once they receive the letter.they cannot continue to collect until they validate.

being as this loan was illegal.i doubt they can validate.you send the letter to make them go away.really there is no way they can validate,so get the letters out with confidence.they will either go away,or commit FDCPA violations where you can sue them and collect 1,000.00.
