I filed a BBB complaint with the MN address and Paycheck Today never responded. So, I filed with OK under MTE Financial and MTE financial swore they had nothing to do with Paycheck Today. I faxed the BBB my agreement that states MTE Financial dba Paycheck Today and they faxed it to MTE Financial who has not responded. I guess they didn't like being caught in a lie by the BBB.

So they are the same company? When they debit my account it says Paycheck Today. I also have a loan with Urgent Cash Advance and that one is debited as MTE. Any advice on how to settle with Paycheck Today? I will be defaulting on Friday. I have only paid them $60 one time for the $200 loan. I will also be defaulting on Urgent Cash Advance/MTE this Friday. I have never paid anything back on that one yet. I was ust getting overwhelmed with too many loans and finally had to go the route of closing my account.

With paychecktoday, they send you a e-mail payment reminder and I just kept sending them an e-mail to that e-mail with a settlement offer. Then I had found an e-mail that came from Mike from Paychecktoday, so I started e-mailing him. When evey e-mail went unanswered I got pretty nasty with them and their CA so I filed a complaint with my states DFI and she sent out letters to them and I e-mailed them one more time and included the e-mail from the DFI, I got a response the very next day accepting my offer. Good luck with these people. You can also send them a letter by cert. mail with return reciept requested.

Thanks for the advice puddlejmpr. I think I saw in another forum that you are from WI - so am I. What other PDL's have you dealt with? Have you had any loans with MTE?

I too have several. How has it been dealing with this? Do they call often or mostly send letters? I have been dealing with PDL's for a year now and have kept them current all along. It has finally gotten to the point though where I barely get by paying the bills each month and never have anything left over. I am no stranger to collections - am I in for something similar to credit cards being delinquent? Do I need to worry about thes PDL's threatening wage garnishment?

We had almost $45000 in credit card debt. After trying debt programs and debt settlement - which by the way trashed our credit - we finally got on a payment program only available in WI. It is called chapter 128, NOT a bankruptcy. They have you out of debt in 36 months. We are more than halfway through and our debt is down to around $20000 now. We will be debt free in September 2008.

So I guess I am just wondering what I am in for. Luckily none of the PDL's have my home phone, only my cell phone. And none of them have my work number. My employer verifies employment thru "The Work Number" so I used that for all my PDL's when I applied.

I'll take any advice you can give. Thanks for the help!

They will call you tons of times. ANd yes they will call your work number and ask for you or your supervisor, they will tell the person answering the phone that if they cannot talk to you, you will be arrested, they will also try and talk about your defaulted laon to your supervisor. Basicly they will try and get you fired. All of that is against the law, but they try it anyway. So you will need to inform your supervisor and the person answering the phone (once it starts) about your situation.

The only place that sent me a letter was Bass&Ass. But Kathleen at the WI DFI has a couple of my PDL's that were sent to collections. She is handling them. They have't tried to contact me since she sent out letters to them.

The only ones that you have to worry about taking anything out of your check is the ones where you signed a vol. wage asignment. If you did sign one then you have to send them a letter revoking that. You will need to send one to them, but do it cert. mail with return reciept requested, give one to your employer (payroll dept.) and keep one for yourself. If you send out any letters make sure you keep a copy for yourself. Just incase you may need the DFI's help for she will also need copies of everything you have sent. So if any of them start to threaten you in any way (arrest, taking you to court for worthless check etc..) you need to file a complaint with the DFI and the FTC also the state where the CA is from. Oh and I would get copies of your bank statements also. I did and sent them to kathleen and she is trying to get me a refund of the nsf fees I was charge because they tried to take from my checking account more times than WI allowes.

I hope I answered all the questions (sorry if I didn't I have to take my daughter to work so am in hurry) If not please post any other that you have and I will try and do my best to get you informed before they start calling.

Oh and way to go on the CC balances Smile keep up the good work on that.

Thanks. On the work calls, they do not have my actual work phone number. Do they have a way to get that? They only have the verification number. And they have to pay to use the 800 which I gave them.

With the verification number can they ask to speak to someone? If they cannot ask for the number when they use the 800 number then they should not be able to get it. But you never know. Otherwise you should be ok.

Ok. Usually they will not use the "the work number" because they are charged a fee to use it. I should be ok then. Thanks for the advice. I'm sure I will ask for more as I get into this. The first 3 PDL's will default tomorrow so they should find out by about Tuesday or so. Thanks!

Here is an update on this company for my account. They sent several e-mails but never called. I have been in default for about 10 days and they sent it to United Legal Corp. I was told that from the collections manager who asked that I stop e-mailing her. Apparently she does not want to do her job. I called them (united legal) before they had a chance to call me. I dealt with a Mr Kelly who was very nice and worked out a monthly payment arrangement via credit card with me. I even got an e-mail confirmation. I saw so many horror stories on this forum about this collection agency so I figured I had better get to them before they got to me! So they were fine for me. I only saw one other story on this forum about them being very nice. I'm sorry to hear they are such rats to everyone else. Hopefully they are improving.
