I would start by checking Iowa's laws regarding Payday lenders. There is a sticky at the top of the forums detailing each state's laws. Some states only require that PDLs be licensed in their home state.

If Iowa requires that internet PDLs be licensed, then check the department of banking's website for a list of licensees. The website address is:
http://www.idob.state.ia.us/

Be very careful though. They could be licensed under a parent company or DBA name. Before you go after them with guns blazing be very sure they are not licensed. That being said, I do not believe that Payday Max is licensed anywhere.

PayDayMax is ILLEGAL everywhere. They operate out of Canada. They are not licensed and use a US address in Nevada for collections. I researched them with Nevada DFI and they have since then relocated to an unknown location. If you have overpaid them, good luck in trying to get a refund, but DEMAND your account marked "Paid in Full" immediately. They will take and take as long as you let them. Remember they are Illegal

Paydaymax is illegal in Washington state. I contacted PDM prior to my due date and told them i could not repay the loan on the due day. I than placed a stop payment for all ACH transactions from them. I called and let them know I would be willing to pay them back as long as it was under Washington law.
My question now is: can Consumer Protection Depot, or MyCashNow debit my account? Should I also put stop payments on them? I previously had a loan from MyCashNow but recently paid it off. It feels good to be out from under these guys and I have no problem making legit paymets on the principle.

I am trying to get calification on weather they are legal. I found your notice that says they are not and I need to see if you'd be willing to help me. What ended up happening with yours? I have just emailed them stating they are not going my washington state law and that until they do I will not be giving them any money. Please help anything you can do.

I sure hope you closed your account BEFORE you emailed them, because if you didn't you can expect them to debit a HUGE sum of money from your account without notice, and they will continue to do so repeatedly until that account is closed!
