belle, did you close your account and then the pdl debits went through and "forced" your account open? Did you revoke thier privilidge to debit your account before you closed your account?

That stinks! I would file a fraud claim with your bank asap, letting them know that you did NOT authorize those debits. Good luck and let us know what happens, OK?

belle,
You should be able to provide the bank with copies of the letters/emails that you sent the companies to revoke the right to debit, and they should be able to have you sign an affidavit to the fact that is was fraudulent. Good luck!!

Usually the best thing to do is go directly to the branch manager and appeal to that persons sense of reason. They may return you fees and place you account on a "deposit only status." The fees affect the bottom line of the bank and a few branch managers may be motivated by that but most are humans like you. Don't go there with an attitude. Treat them the same as the cop who pulls you over.

It is possible that with copies of the letters you sent, that you might be able to get the bank to return everything and possibly refund the NSF fees, considering the account was suppose to be closed. The bank will usually want proof that you revoked authorization to debit your account.

That is what my bank said. As long as I have proof that I notified them to NOT debit, I can get my money back.

I used to bank with Chase and they had told me that my closed account would have to sit unactive for 30 days for it to be officially closed. In other words, anything trying to come through in that 30 day period, would force it open.
