Sub: In regards to paying off PDLs...........
Sat, 04/18/2009 - 20:25

There is so much information on therse forums on PDL's. What paper work to send? What to do with your bank acoount? Is the PDL legal or not? ETC ETC ETC.... I love this website, gave me lots of insight on what to do now that I got myself into the mess I did. But where are the stories of people who actually won this battle? People who either consolidated their PDL's or worked their butts off to pay them off never to apply for another again? WHERE ARE YOU PEOPLE? I WANT TO HERE HOW YOU DID IT AND HOW IT FEELS TO HAVE FREEDOM FROM THIS NIGHTMARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well it seems you have things covered with a PDL consolidation company. Just make sure you pay what you owe and not a penny more to these lenders.

Cash Call can be difficult to deal with. Have you tried calling them and asking for a lower APR/Interest rate?? They sometimes are generous and will help, but NOT often..LOL! If you have the extra money from tax refinds, I would pay the loan off in a lumpsum. The interest rates can have you paying double or triple of what you orginally borrowed. Stay in communication with them and make sure things are clear is the best advice I can give.

Thank you. I did confirm with the PDL consd. comp. that I am paying back only what I borrowed. (I do pay them a fee-but worth it to me). I think I might call cashcall and just see if theyll lower the interest rate-worth a try. Thank you!

I have also been PDL free for almost a year...it felt awesome to finally be free of the cycle. I still deal with the annoying collection calls that pop up every few months, just got 2 today, but other than that I'm so glad that I was able to get out of the trap & stay out...

it's been about a year for me, too.. this board changed my life! in some ways it's hard and more of a struggle - because i now pay for things in cash only and never take loans, etc. but it's worth it!

I have been pdl free for 5 months and its awesome. I had 10 of those and only 1 was legal. I had way overpaid on 8 of them and got PIF's on 6. One hasn't contacted me and the other illegal one was cash transfer centers. After I defaulted last July, I offered to pay the principal and they wouldn't take it then I just emailed them back and forth that I would only pay the 900 principal. Finally someone called me from CTC in November and said if you will pay 550 in 1 week we will settle your account and give you a PIF. So I asked my boyfriend for money and I paid him back with my Christmas bonus from work.

Its an amazing feeling to never have to worry about this anymore and to check back to this site and see the familiar names who helped me!
