I have. I was able to close my checking and open one with a new number. I have heard of some people having trouble with the PDL's finding their new accounts, but so far (knock on wood) I have not had a problem.

We do recommend using an unrelated bank. Less room for error.

Mine is with BOA and hasn't been reopened by the ACH items. They sent me a notice of the ones that were returned, on 2-15, as account closed and there was no charge. I didn't get the notice on the 29th so I assume the PDL companies did not attempt to debit the account.

While it it recommended that you change banks, I have stayed with the same bank with no issues.

Wachovia will close an account with a 10-day "pending close" in which during that time you can have them put a hard debit block.

Hey VB Mom. . . .I too stayed with my bank, but it is a local bank, not a nationwide organization. I know that some of my "legal" ACH's hit, they were not honored and to best of my knowledge the account has not been re-opened. I would assume that my bank would have called me if it did.

I should have said knock on wood at that end of that post. With my darn luck I'd check tomorrow morning & it'll be hit by Eastside Lenders! Gotta love superstitions!!!

Well, luckily I knew people at my bank and that gives me some security...but they did say that the old account is never tied to the new one, especially when there has been fraud...now I still look at my account everyday, and probably will for awhile...

I am still with BOA although it took months to get to the right person! They fixed everything!

I stayed with the same bank, and it's been more than 2 years since I've been PDL free!! as far as I know there were never any problems.
