How long do PDLs keep trying to get their money

I live in Maryland and when I found out PDls were prohibited here, I closed my bank acct and started working w/ the Office of the Commissioner of Financial Regulation (as mentioned on this website). Most of the PDL companies have quietly faded away; but I was wondering, approximately how long does it take before the more persistent companies or their 'hired guns' give up?

I think they get quiet but most don't give up!

But I have also found that if you work with the FTC and your state AG's office then they sometimes will just give you what you are looking for, a pif Very Happy

Read the post about closing your checking acct. They
Will debit from that account indefinitly. There are stories all over the forums, diff amounts, diff dates, even slip an electronic check. If you can't close your account yet ask your bank to put a deposits only. If you don't safeguard your account eventually it will be overdrawn, that too has happened to a lot of people here. Good luck and keep us posted.

To add to what has been said...I had a CA from an IPDL..finally concede to my requests after I contacted the BBB where they were located. Finding them where they are actually located and making a complaint in that city is what helped me. However that doesn't mean they won't come back. One more thing do not contact any pdls for loans in the future because these people give info to other pdls.

They won't stop as long as there is money for them to take. Think of PDLs as the stray dog you feed--if there's something to eat, he keeps coming back. Except the PDL stray dog goes rabid and crazy when you take the food away. Smile
They never give up unless you MAKE them give up. Report them to the BBB, the FTC, your AG, the MD office of Financial Institutions--anybody you can think of. Send out C&D letters, certified with return receipt. You can't give them the opportunity to scare you.

Yeah, I hope that people who have dealt with these pdl's and have been wronged will follow through and report these companies to the BBB, FTC, etc. The more complaints & reports filed, the better the chances of putting them out of business (well I can dream can't I?). Rolling Eyes

Oh no worries; I followed the excellent advise at this site and went to my bank right away to close my account. AND took all of the questions I should ask, re. if they charged return fees for achs', and all that. And you know what? After I did that, some of the PDl companies sent me e-mails, inviting me to apply for NEW loans! Now, is that a rather obvious way of trying to get my new bank info, or what? And no way will I get involved with these people again, or any other PDL companies. Took a while, but I've learned my lesson. Thankfully the State of Maryland is working very closely with me on this. As for finding the locations of these companies, they're all internet and several of them are overseas; I've put other posts here detailing the merry conversations I've had with people PDL's located in New Dehli, India, who are going to "see me in the British courts" if they don't get their money! I was just wondering if there was any discernable time frame where they'd ever give up. If they don't, oh well...
