Help with United Cash Loans

First, I'd like to say a big "thank you" to everyone on this site. A couple of weeks ago I was worried about the fact that my November 15 paycheck would disappear as soon as it was deposited. Because of this site, I closed my bank account, got my whole paycheck for the first time in a year, and within two weeks had PIF's from 4 out of 5 Internet PDL's and even a big refund from one of them.

That's the good news... The bad news is that the 5th PDL is from United Cash Loans and they refuse to budge. I made a huge mistake and reloaned with them after I had way overpaid an initial loan of $300 (paid $885). I have paid $0 on the second loan of $350 and told them they could have their $350 once they sent me a refund for the $585 I overpaid on the first (they loved that suggestion!). I'm wondering if I am being unreasonable and should try to make payment on the new loan, even though I overpaid on the previous. I'm dreading the idea of having to deal with their collections people. Also relevant- I am in CA where the Dept. of Corporations has filed a Cease and Desist against United Cash Loans. I've filed a complaint with them as well. Any thoughts?

You are not being unreasonable at all. You are correct and right on point.

abby I would not repay the loan because what you paid "extra" on the first one should cover it. I received a PIF from United Cash last week and would be happy to send you a letter that I used via PM. You will have to put in some of your own information. It may be worth a try.

Thanks for the offer of the letter- I'd love that. I'm trying to figure out how to sign up. My problem is that the username the site is giving me is the first part of my email address and gives away a bit too much personal information (especially since it is the email address that I am using to deal with PDL's). Is there any way to edit the username or choose your own or am I stuck with what the site automatically gives me?

Ok, I think I've got it now. Would appreciate any letter templates over PM. I used a few things I found on here and on my own and was able to get PIF's from others (including 500 fast cash), but United Cash Loans will not even communicate with me. If anyone has been successful with them, I'd love some tips.

My other loans were:
500 Fast Cash $350 (paid $735, marked PIF)
Cash Today $200 (paid $825, marked PIF)
SJM $300 (paid $1620, marked PIF)
Speedy Payday $300 (paid $1620, refund for $1000, marked PIF)

I overpaid on a lot of these, but I'm happy just to have them gone. If only UCL would go away too....

Good Luck! You have done quite well. What kind of letter did you send to Speedy Payday to get a refund? I have overpaid The Loanshop by about $500 and I am trying to get the to refund it to me.

Congrats on the PIF! I'm so jealous....

I've got UCL calling me nonstop now. Only, I haven't overpaid them... I still owe them $210 I think... (or $120 I forget)... Either way, I've sent them letters, emails, and refused their "settlement" offers, and now they've taken to calling me! It is not fun.

But keep at it hopefully the letter TMBL sent you will help!

I have sent several VOD letters to these people- never heard a word from them until recently. they have called my home several. The last two times they called I have asked for a mailing address and reminded them that I still have not recieved anything from them. I again asked for a mailing address and they just gave me a fax, and have no clue what I am talking about when I tell them I want vod. Told them not to call my home and to send everything by USPS and the gave me a line that they do not do that. What should I do now?

TMBL- I didn't the PM (or perhaps I just don't know how to pick it up?). I looked under my messages, but there is nothing there.

As for the refund, it was actually the easiest one I dealt with- I sent a standard letter with the CA laws and requested a refund and followed it up with a phone call and they agreed right away. I just had to sign a clause that I released them from all further responsibility.

I've decided that I will not back down on UCL. The worst they can do is call me and bother me- they're not legal, so it's not like the can sue me!

BTW- that wasn't me that posted as guest above.

I figured it was you, I hope Guest will come back and we can help them...

But keep at it abby with UCL, they are illegal and can't do crap to you. I think it is very fair, they still get an extra ~230 from you by considering your second loan PIF... Seems very fair to me
