Its a great feeling to pay your real bills! I remember getting my first direct deposit without the PDL fees.....*sigh*, I felt like doing backflips!

So I went to the bank and opened a new account. They are going to leave my old account open for a couple of weeks on credit only, just to make sure no more credits hit my account. Then we will close it permanently. Is it okay to send out my letters with the account like this?

Yes, go for it. As long as any debits are no longer allowed on the account, then ok to send those letters.

Sounds like a project for the weekend Smile

Mom, mine stayed like that for about six or so weeks with no issues and I opened my new account at the same bank too. I just checked it several times a day until the old account was closed for good.

Okay, so I went to start sending out letters this weekend and all of the sudden I have been paralyzed with fear to send them out. Has anyone else ever felt like this about sending out their letters? Or am I just super lame?

At first, I was just a tad. But then as I starting thinking about how much of my hard earned $ they bled from me, my fear suddenly went away.

Be strong! You can do it! Very Happy

Mom, I can understand the fear. But you have gotten through the hardest part. You closed your account and took control of your money. JUst remember these companies are illegal and you have the control. You can do this. We are here for you. Community Hug

Thank you, I did it, partially at least! I have sent emails to the pdl's that I can. Tomorrow, I will get out the hard copies of the letters! Then I am sure there will be many questions about filing complaints with the AG and the BBB!!! Thank you again for your support!!!!!

I had several payday loans a couple of years ago. Not anymore. Declared bankruptcy a couple of yrs. ago and those accts were done away with. Not advocating that you do the same. Follow the advice about getting control of your payroll check and bank acct first. The payday loans are a scam, and they provide more of a huge disservice to people than they do anything else. Once you get caught in the loop of "robbing Peter to pay Paul", it's hard to get out of it. These companies count on it...that is why the charge such enormous fees. They know that people are going to find themselves in dire straights needing money for any emergency that pops up. They make a profit off of other people's misery. Seems there is a lot of that going around.

Today I am getting my first phone calls, so far one from United Cash who I have way overpaid. So I am not so worried about that one. The second one was from E-Payday who I still owe about $210 on the original amount they lent to me. I sent out letters last night via Email to almost all of my companies E-Payday-Loan and United included. Both of the calls I have received have been at my work. I guess my question is that if I have requested that they not call me and correspond only via mail or email, do I have to talk to them? If not, what can I do? Just keep sending them emails?

Mom, No you do not have to talk to them. Yes, you just keep sending them e-mails. I would add a commentary and past in my pdl letter each time a company called. I would do that over and over. I wrote something like, I was contacted on (date) at (time) by (whomever left the message). I previously emailed, faxed and sent you a letter on (date). In that letter I specified I was not to be contacted and all communication would be in writing only. I will not communicated with (company name) otherwise. I have placed my original letter below outlining my instructions. ....or something like that and would e- mail it every time a company called. Sooner or later they will quit calling.
