Guess the question now has to be asked, do we as former users of Payday loans have to keep looking over our shoulder concerning our bank accounts? And what steps can we take to safe guard our money? Any ideas or thoughts?

David, are you the same David that posted this morning regarding the bank accounts being hit? I do not trust the PDLs and yes, I keep looking over my shoulder. I suppose the best safeguard is to have an account that does not allow ACH debits.

No, I would not say you have to look over your shoulder.
You have about the same chance of a pdl finding your new account as you do that some thief just steals the account info. Either way, you can dispute the charges and get the money back.
Really, there have been 1000's of people that have come on this site dealing with payday loans. Only about 10 to 20 TOTAL have had a new account hit. So doing the math, it's a very small percentage that it happens to. It's not worth the worry.

My bank has refunded all the NSF charges and assures me that my new account is safe as long as I do not provide any info. All I have to do is send a paper check to the wrong place and they can hit my new account. Never give a paper check to anyone like a collection agency lawyer or pdl. After what I read today I am still a litte uneasy.

Goudah keeps me calm too! I read her reassuring words and I feel better instantly. I should be paying her therapist fees! LOL

Ooh! How much do I get per hour?
Seriously, it sucks when it happens. But the chances of it happening are very slim. And, because it's a new account, you will always be able to dispute and win. So at most it's an annoying inconvience for a couple days. That is why I have multiple accounts. If something ever happened to one, I still have the others so I'm not broke waiting for the credit to go through.

Well just to be on the safe side I have 3 checking and 3 savings at 3 differnet banks, maybe after some time has past I might narrow it down but for the time being not going to keep all my eggs in one basket....
