My sister had a loan with them and settled for principal only with a prepaid visa card. that said if i owed them less than the principal i would demand a physical address to send a money order to. illegal lenders cannot take legal action and this can be paid on your terms (that is of course if you have not paid the principal yet, if you have than you are done).

I tried to settle for the original amount of $390. Please help. I am not giving anyone a penny until I know what is going on. I called the Consumer Regulations in California and found they are not even licensed in California. So agian I am not paying them one cent. How do they even get away with this kind of action?
Please assit if you can.

I had a PDL out with Sandpoint Capital too, and found an easy resolution to settling on my defaulted loan.
Since they are an unlicensed lender, all you owe them is the principle balance of $300, nothing more. How much have you paid to them to-date, including service fees? If you ended up paying back the priciple balance with those lovely $90 finance charges they ding you for twice a month, add those up and apply it against the principle balance. What is left over is what you owe them. If you've overpaid them in finance charges THEY owe YOU money back!
Be sure to close your bank account if you haven't done so already and don't give out your new bank info to anyone. Then send them a letter stating that you are aware that they are an unauthorized PDL company and that you revoke any ACH authorizations on your account, and that they are not to call you at home, your place of business, or contact any references listed on your loan app. Tell them you also revoke any wage assignments they may try to impose on you and give a copy of the letter to your employer.
Most likely everything will work out. I was communicating with a guy named, "Wes" and he sent me the following email after I sent him in an ACH revoaktion letter and called them out on their illegal lending status. Below is a copy of what he sent me:
"I will let you know that if you review the documents that are sent to you at the time of your approval, it states on your loan note and disclosure that the laws of Nevis are the laws that govern this loan and that is what is agreed upon when the loan is approved. According to our records the $300 was lent to you on 8/11/09 and your first due date was 8/25. You have made three payments of $90 on this loan, which total $270. They were made on 8/25, 9/10, and 9/25. This would leave you with a $30 payment due to payoff the $300 principle amount. I will let you know that by settling the account his way, any further application for a loan will be denied. Please let me know when you would like to have the $30 payment processed and I will set it up. This final payment will settle the account.

I recently got a phone call from a person named Anthony(no last name given.)telling me that i owe$950.00 for two payday loans. The phone number he called me from is 1-646-520-0835,After looking up the phone# on the internet i discovered the call came from a landline in newyork. When i asked him for the names and phone numbers of the two PDL companies he would not give out the info..He also told me that the collection company that he is working for is Sandpoint Capital.

He also stated to me that he will be calling me back towards the end of november to see if I have the money to repay the loans..

He is also threatining me with legal action including a lawsuit, legal papers filed against me and whatever else he can think of.

This sounds like a scam to me,Do you also think that this is a scam?

I will not be sending him any money until I know what is going on.

What should I do?

These people just called me representing Sandpointe and said I was going to jail. I told him to talk to my attorney. He asked how I could afford an attorney when I had to take out a payday loan. I asked him where he was located, he told me that was none of my business and I said how I pay my attorney wasnt his either.

This guy is an a**. Doesn't know his head from a hole in the ground. PDLs are illegal in almost EVERY state, I've reported them to the BBB, and their operation is a total sham. They are illegally using the west indies to cover their butts.

I mean read below?

"I will let you know that if you review the documents that are sent to you at the time of your approval, it states on your loan note and disclosure that the laws of Nevis are the laws that govern this loan and that is what is agreed upon when the loan is approved. According to our records the $300 was lent to you on 8/11/09 and your first due date was 8/25. You have made three payments of $90 on this loan, which total $270. In some states if you do a payday loan on line the attorney general has said that it is not legal for them to collect it. Also you can settle the balances for less money than what is due. We do this all the time. My information is on my web site at: DELETED...PM

while you do it all the time.please no solicitation allowed per TOS RULES.sorry.

smarty, we do not judge or resort to name calling on this board..
but first of all, not every state has storefront lenders (and to be honest i would not recommend those neither)
second, not ever company sends loan documents.. the illegal companies would never tell you that they should not be lending money and when times are tough it is easy to be a victum.
i have been there and will never go down that road again but i will not judge anyone else for it.

also, when you get a loan, these companies cover their terms and repayment options and send you documentation. it's your fault if you don't understand the terms or don't pay attention.
they aren't licensed by your state so they don't have to follow your state rules. be smart and go to a local payday loan shop or borrow money from someone else and you won't stupidly put yourself in this financial mess.
it's really simple and you need to learn how to manage your funds.
why don't you be smart, and not post humanoid stupidity.it doesn't last long as everything you said smacks of an illegal pdl drone.btw i deleted this so you know where it went.to attack post heaven.

I got caught up in this mess too. These people are crooks. I too recieved phone calls threatening jail time and threatening my family. my account was closed long ago. I did not realize until after many hundreds of dollars that I was being scammed by these so called collection enforcement agencies. Please...dont let them do tto you what they have done to me. I realize now that internet loans are not the way to go.The whole situation has taken years off my life with worry about doing jail time for not paying off a collection agency that threatened me in the way they did. The man was rude and condescending and I will never again be spoken to in that manner. Dont take their crap[ when they call.
