Can you direct me in where I can get a listing of the State laws for payday loans in South Carolina. I know that we are one of the most liberal states with this matter, but I would still think there are some restrictions. Also, what about the following ipdl companies: PayDayMax, SignMyLoan.net and zip19.com.

Welcome to the forum! If you hang on, I'm sure that someone will be along soon who can help you with your payday laws and also give you advice on the specific companies you asked about. In the meantime, it would be helpful if you would list the following additional information: amount of the original loan with each company and amount paid so far.

There is a sticky available that shows the rules for each of the states. I think it's preliminary but it might help you get started. I've got a PDL with zip19.com too and I'm starting this process. Here is the infromation that I have that I've received from this group! This is a great bunch...you'll get alot of good information to help you through each step!

Whoops sorry, I forgot to post the info we need. lol

-Names of each pdl company.
-Whether they are store front or Internet.
-How much you borrowed.
-How much you paid so far.
-The state in which you reside.
I'm sorry to tell you this, but there is only one sure way to stop the withdrawals, and that is to close your account. If that isn't an option, then tell the bank [speak directly to the Branch Manager] to put a hard debit block on your account. Before you close your account, read this information at the link below. http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com...e-account.html

Please do not let any of these pdl's know you are going to close your account, until AFTER you have done it!

I believe zip19 is the same as northway-financial and based out of Malta, making them illegal/unlicensed. If I am wrong, someone please correct me on this. I'm pretty sure that PayDayMax is unlicensed/illegal also. I'm not at all certain about SignMyLoan, I couldn't seem to locate any info on them, if anyone else is familiar with SignMyLoan, please come to our rescue!
What this means is, all you are morally obligated to pay these unlicensed lenders back is the principal amount. I just want to make sure that these a payday loans, and not installment type loans, please verify that for me.

Shazz. . you are right. zip19 is affiliated with Nortway and is out of Malta. PayDayMax is strong armed by Credit Protection Depot, which at the moment, seems to be rather illusive. It would appear that the address I used in the spring is now a one way street. . . they will get emails out to clients, but you can't get info back in. Suggestion. . .use the phone number or fax number listed. . . .1-866-645=1661 or 1-899-645-1662 (fax). Direct faxes to Mr. William Reed. Hope this helps. Don't know much about Sign My Loan other than when I considered them earlier this year, there was way to much info they wanted and way too much paperwork. Little did I know then that they gave me a "gift" by making things difficult for me. Hope some of this info can be used positively.

The loans are with the following internet companies:
PayDayMax $500.00. This was paid off, but due to the cycle, I reissued. The final cost was $1378.00 due to the extensions when it was finally paid off. Zip19.com. They too are with Northway. I tried to contact them about repayment, but they informed me that their lender stipulates full payment with a interest fee of $19.98 per $100.00. Thanks to you, I know the max in South Carolina is $15.00! Paydayless.com the initial loan was $300.00 with $75.00 interest fee. Signmyloan.net is $300.00. The interest fee is $98.50 each payperiod. I have 212.98 left due to the rollover.
Store Fronts
Carolina Payday $600 with $90.00 interest
Quick Cash $300 with $45.00 interest
Fast Cash $300.00 with $45.00 interest

I would like to be able to stop the internet since reading your posting on the laws in SC and the amount is to be only the loan taken for repayment with only $15.00 per $100.00. Not $19.98 or $45.00.

Hmm, sounds like US NATIONAL BANK perhaps. They can be tricky in scheming people out of money. I would request a letter stating loan company and amount owed. PLEASE do not send them any money or give them your bank info. Do not worry no one will be arresting you over a PDL. Here is some additional info on folks who was threatened the same way. Good Luck!

I am happy with ZIP 19. Customer Service is great; one of the lowest fees in the industry. It is good for emergency only. If you can get money somewhere else, better do that than going to payday loan companies. Another good thing about Zip 19 is they break your loam into 2, i.e., if you owe $200.00, they will send your bank two transactions of $100.00 plus interest. That way, if you do not have enough money, only one bounces where fees will be charged. Again, use them only as a last resort. For me, I dont think $19.99 /$100.- is much if you really need it.

I have found this sc law that was signed in June 2009 - any help in understanding it would be appreciated...but I believe it is stating that internet payday loans need to have a license in Sc to be able to lend to SC residents....any lawyers here??

SECTION 2. Section 34-39-130 of the 1976 Code, as added by Act 433 of 1998, is amended by adding at the end: "(C) A person may not engage in the business of deferred presentment services to a consumer residing in the State, whether or not the person has a location in South Carolina, except in compliance with the provisions of this chapter and without having first obtained a license pursuant to this chapter.
