Check this out everyone, Staradvance just sent me this "settlement offer" even though they are SO illegal and not even in the US:

Quote:
"It is Important to protect your credit!

Star wants to help!
Having money problems is nothing to be ashamed of or embarrassed about this can be worked out.
Choose one of the 4 repayment plans (A B C D) below and your Star account can remain open, in good standing for future money needs and your credit rating with Star will remain at “A+”.
Choose Payment Plan

A, B, C, or D
Loan
$400.00

Fee
$35.60

NSF Fee
$25.00

Total Due
$460.60

Which plan, A-B-C-D would you prefer?

Getting started is easy!

Step 1: “Click Reply” to this email

Step 2: Type your plan choice (A-B-C-D) in the “Subject” line.

Example: (Subject: C)

Step 3: “Click Send”.

After that Star will set your account up to be paid out over a few paydays, depending on the plan you selected.

* Soon you will be back on your feet

* Account will be paid in full

* Star account in good standing

* Star Credit Rating A+

* Account available again anytime you need emergency cash.

If you don’t request one of the payment plans we will assume you wish to pay the total balance and that amount will be collected on your next payday.

The last thing anybody wants is your bank account balance to be eaten up by unnecessary NSF charges.

Thank You!

Star Advance

Collections"

They then break down a bunch of "payment plans" which are ridiculous.

Can you believe these guys? They come out of the woodwork after several months and offer me this garbage???

But Jen! If you don't do this your "Star credit rating" won't be an A+! What will you do then?!?! Oh no!

LMAO Goudah! I just about lost it when I read that too!

They must be sending out these form "settlement offers" to everyone who hasn't paid their loans off in full.

How do you think I should respond? (or should I respond at all?)

I would respond with option E!

Tell them that you will only accept a PIF, as per your state laws which made pdl's illegal!

I like the format... reminds me of the super-value menu at McDonalds?

"..and for .99cents more we can really screw you over on the fees" How cool is that?

TOO FUNNY!

I just wrote them back reiterating what I had previously told them (that they are illegal, not in US, etc.) and told them that their settlement offer was unacceptable. Now I'll probably get a response from their legal dept! Laughing

You should be Volley! Stand up sounds right up your alley! The next Kathy Griffin!

BTW, I was just reading Volley's post about Tim Atkins and it sounds an awful lot like Steve Powell over at Staradvance's "legal department".

Wait a minute! Jen, you didn't post all the options for us to read. I do believe that if you chose "Option B", it would mean "Bite Me"??? Am I correct in assuming this? Very Happy

Yes Cann, that's the one I chose! LOL

I didn't post the options because it was too long, and I didn't want to bore you guys to death.
