I have a call into the Oklahoma Department of Consumer Credit (405) 521 3653. Im curious as to OKLA stance on MTE operating under a number of DBA's and also a number of office locations on or in the vacinity of Miami, OK. I will post his response.

Question - in reading past threads; there are a few post from community members who state legal status. Lawyers, para legals. Does anyone know the legal answer to which law (state) are these PDL's suppose to operate under? The state law for their home office or the law for the state in which the consumer resides in?

I believe they have to be licensed in the state which they lend in. And they usually aren't. I know that for me , some were licensed in their state, but since NY prohibits these loans they were all deemed illegal

If they are to be licensed in their home state and follow their state laws; MTE clearly is not. I know BIG surprise. I will post OK Dept of Consumer Credit response as soon as I hear from the guy . . . .

hvn-As kash mentioned, they have to be licensed in the state they lend in which is the state the consumer resides. However, for PA residents, the pdl only has to be licensed in the pdl's state in which theyh conduct business.

I apologize. I also have PDL's outstanding with MTE & their dba's. I was using this thread to post my progress with the OK Consumer Credit Dept as all the correspondence Ive recd from the dba's & MTE shows physical address in Miami, OK. If my postings belong on a different thread - would someone please move them for me. I dunno how to do such. Good luck to member in PA !

PA is not the only state like this. There are a few others. However, in the case of MTE Financial, heaven, they are not licensed/legal in their own state, let alone any other state in the United States. MTE Financial and their many, many d/b/a's are not licensed. It doesn't matter what state you are in or they are in. They are not licensed. Period.

Good to know. I wasnt able to find them in OK's licnesee database. I am hoping that the guy @ OK Consumer Credit may be able to point me in the direction that is needed to have OK state investigate MTE and/or their DBA's. I may naive in my approach but I cant imagine the OK state/political machine wants to be associated with unscrupulous business(es) operating from their state lines.

heaven, they have have Cease & Desist orders from other states to stop lending, as they are illegal. The Oklahoma government agencies are well aware of them. However, I am very curious to see what their response is to your inquiry regarding them. They are evil.

Cannr - if nothing else it'll make me feel better! I can not praise this site & its members enough. I used PDL's in the past, always paid back. But life happens. My 1st dealing with a PDL once I defaulted was Bass Assoc. They threatened to have me arrested. I looked over at my 5 yr old & busted out crying. Thanks to your forum I feel empowered and educated!!!! Thank you!

Ok, I just got a call from Summer with 500 Fast Cash and wants me to call her. I emailed them and asked them to send my documents again because I 'lost' them. She left a message saying that I have to give her a call back because they need a written request...

Sneaky devils...lol
