llw, who asks you? You mean if you are filing a complaint against a pdl, they ask if you are a "senior"?

cannr....we also have a ton of advertisements in Western New York regarding scams, if you will, against the elderly. Maybe it is a New York thing, and I am not sure what they do if you are a "senior" but I know that they plugging it quite often.

I find that interesting. Like, what would the process be if you were a senior? Hmmm.....

cannr...didn't this thread start out as someone's disabled parents having to deal with some PDL's? That is where my info was coming from. But you are right, it is interesting and something that might be used as leverage.

llw, I just edited my post so no one gets confused! Thanks for pointing that out to me! Laughing I have to say, this thread and egypts thread about the storefronts doing all these horrible things are doing terrible things to my brain cells! LOL! I can't keep all the "wrong do-er's" straight!

llw, I wonder if it does make a difference, as in this case, it is an elderly couple (who apparently are also ill). So, I'm wondering if it's just a state by state "thing" (like just in NY) or if it's all states that maybe (?) you have a few more rights (or something!) if you're elderly and/or disabled. Huh.... Makes me wonder where to look.

cannr...has the bbb from your state every asked on the complaint form? I know that on the AG's website there is a section dedicated to helping seniors in New York State. It deals with all sorts of things. Door to door, medical, etc. New York State can be a royal pain as far as taxes go, but they do also offer us benefits that other states don't. I am so glad that I live in New York when it comes to dealing with these nitwits. I really do think it has helped me out. Now, I just have to let it "sink" in to Star and UsFastCash! The weather is picking up here, 50's today and 60's tomorrow and then 50's all next week! I think I will go out and run some errands. . .it's beautiful today. You have a great day.

Thanks, llw! I honestly don't even remember since I filed my complaints months ago and BLOCKED IT ALL FROM MY MEMORY. Laughing I don't believe my state AG asked that though. In my state, we have to print the forms, fill them out, and mail them in. I don't remember if it asked that question or not. However, like I said, I've blocked it all from my memory to prevent post-tramatic stress syndrome! Laughing

cannr...I hear you on that one. It might be worth a shot for faeriechic to call her AG and see if there are any protections for her situation. I hope she comes back to check the responses.

Thank you all so much for your responses. There are certain laws in Iowa that protect seniors. My parents are 60 and 62 and are both disabled and on oxygen.I had no idea what trying to get out of these PDL's were going to be like but I knew that it would not be easy. I just never guessed that they could stoop that low.

Just an update: we called again to the PDL and asked for the checks for March that she paid with the money she got from cashing the December checks. How convienent.. they are not in the file, no where to be found. My response to her? " Oh, well you must have put them in that special file. You know the one where the big red sign is that calls for bending one over?" She told me that there was nothing we could do and that she knew I was trying to get her on it. If there is nothing that we can do about this, then why won't she show proof that the checks were paid. I told her " That's okay, you can keep your little paper, I would think that if I chose to persue this that the fact my parents still recieved loans from you since December would be enough".

Crap! Shocked This storefront is blowing my mind! Honestly. They have "nothing". Nothing? They don't have the checks, they're not in the file, they were in the wrong pile, etc.... WTF???? I swear, I don't know how you're holding back. I would throw my body across that counter and jump on her head!!!!!

So she doesn't know where the checks are but when she needs to cash one and steal money from your folks, she knows EXACTLY where they are. She obviously knew where that one she cashed already was.

You need to do whatever it takes to report this woman.

Did you say that this shop was part of the CFSA? If so, I would also file a complaint with them:

http://www.cfsa.net/filing_customer_complaint.html

This whole situation is just so digusting...ugggghhh.

OMG Cannr lmao Laughing I guess I would have to be there to try and pull you back lmao.

This place is sooooo wrong Mad And it ticks me off that she knows shes wrong and still does it Evil or Very Mad I think a little letter or phone call from a lawyer just might jump start her memory. What she is doing is fraud and she knows it.

Thanks for all your help! Well, nothing has come about the deal with the payday cashing the check that was already paid for. We are still waiting on the state auditor. Everything has been relatively quiet around here. My parents have set up payment plans with the other ones. But omg, today not even 5 minutes after we set up payment arrangements with Hometown Cash Advance, the old bag that I got into with showed up on my door step!!! Is this even legal?? I am beginning to believe that even though we live in a free country, that we poor people do not have any protection from these leeches!!

Honey, I have heard of storefront workers showing up at people's homes. I personally find this totally amazing. I swear to God, I would dial 911 and have a cop at my house in 5 minutes if one stepped foot on my property. I guess it's legal? I'm only assuming here because you're not the first this has happened to. Honestly, I would call the cops if they showed up again. And that's no lie.
