egypt, I swear, I know exactly what you're talking about. You are certainly not alone. Never, never will I forget the sleepless nights, the anxiety upon waking every morning, the thought of "what's going to go wrong now", the dread of dealing with these people, etc. Oh, it was horrible. I would sit at work and honestly, the only thing on my mind was money, debt, pdls, etc. I was zoned out in my own world. It was sick! Slowly though, the light started coming! It was pretty damn dark and ugly in the beginning. Now I'm amazed that I don't have to (like you even stated) drive around to all the different storefronts paying and rewriting, fighting internets pdls, etc. I can actually come HOME after work on payday instead of driving all over town. I can actually get on my email and not have 100 messages from friggin internet pdls. I can check my bank account and damn the money is still there! You, too, will be to this point. You are working hard at it and it'll pay off. Then you won't know what to do with yourself once you've got it all taken care of! LOL!

Yes, the nightmare it is....I kind of think this must be how those people used to feel when they borrowed money from the mafia? At least for want of a better word. We had a friend who grew up in NYC and his father had gotten in debt with unscrupulous people who threatened him all the time....I am not sure they were mafia, but close to it? ANYHOW....they loan you money real easy but the payback is hell.

Actually, it is kind of like a "mild" mafia! At least I think so anyway! Calls, threats, etc. What the hell? Sure, they'll give you money - then want to break your knee caps afterwards! And, you're trying to PAY them! Oh, burns me up. Mad

Yes, and what *burns* me is that they completely ignore the amounts of money you have forked out over the month's/years and act like it is a fresh new debt and you are cheating them out of their money? Talk about irony.
But hopefully this too shall pass. I just want this nightmare to end.

Okay, okay...to bump this up agai.
I am wondering what if all these companies get together that I have dfaulted on? Can they file a suit against me for having more than the legal limit?
Or am I just being paranoid. I have not heard from a couple that I did not contact and have dfaulted on?
also, I am curious as to what others have paid to pay down some of these other than like a $100 every other week...which is the amount most are asking for or more?

Yes...I have not even tried to handle the Internets ones. Honestly, I feel like I am moving in slow motion here.
I am working on getting the printer fixed on this computer so I can easily type out and mail the letters.
Yesterday, I talked to a girl who used to work with one of the companies and I asked her if they will take payments and she said yes and gave me the name of the corporate people to contact as she says the regional will not help me much at all.
Oddly enough...ahmmm...she gave me all the same advise you did.

Anyway, the only reason I can "preach" about this is because I went through it! Laughing

As for your question regarding the storefronts suing you (no) for having more than the limit the state law allows, do not be afraid. I was SCARED TO DEATH. I thought my a$$ was in big trouble because I had too many loans out, I lied when asked 'do you have any other payday loans out', etc. Man, I thought I was going to jail! No. Do not worry about it. How many thousands of people do this every week? I can't even count that high. Just deal with them one by one. They won't "gang up" on you. They probably don't even know you have loans out with other storefronts. They're just concerned with THEIR loan. Don't fret over this. They're actually trying to pass a law in my state now that all the storefronts have to have some kind of database to check and see if people have loans out with other storefronts. I think that would be AWESOME because that would prevent people from doing what we did (getting too many) and finding ourselves in the situation of not being able to pay them. Hell, egypt, these storefronts know that 98% of the people that come in there for a loan say "I don't have any other loans" and yes, they do. That's why they have you inital saying you don't. It just kind of covers their butt. But, no, they're not going to gang up and get you. If that were the case, they would have come knocking on my door and dragging me away!

Cannr, you crack me up...it is like talking to my double or at least close kin here...you know me so well. The bright side is that if you can deal with me, you can help ANYONE!
Wonder if a magazine article on this subject would be helpful. While I was awake last night, I thought about writing one? You know, check it out with Oprah or someone?

egypt, you are way too kind! I just love to help people realize that everything is going to be okay!

Actually, an article in a newspaper would be an awesome idea. Spread the word. I'm sure you could write one! Hell, we could probably all write NOVELS after going through all of this! Laughing

And, stop being awake at night! Wink

My nights when I am not at work...I work nights BTW...12 hours 3 or 4 nights a week....are truly insane. I sleep an hour....maybe...then I wake up, drink a sip of Coke or something...light a cigarette...take a few puffs...put it out...sleep another hour...and do it over....oh...sometimes I go to the bathroom, too.
Long ago and far away...I wanted to write...I took several Commercial Writing Classes. Some on how to write an article for publication? Then I got writers block...I could not even write a letter without edited the fire out of it. But you know, this is something people need to read about.
If I wrote it for this town, I am sure some would know who it was and tar and feather me for educating the others.
Yes, it will be so good to have all this behind me.

Egypt, I think you are doing Awsome...and I love seeing you cheering others on. You have really come a long way since the beginning. Write that article and send it to one of the larger newspapers in one of the larger cities in TN. There is nothing saying you can only write for where you live.

Rox...I had a big long post for you and it got *ate* somehow? Anyhow...this is therapy for me. I just cannot stand for others to feel this anguish I have been feeling and thinking they alone have done something like this?
Can you imagine how I will be when I am out of it?

Egypt, I understand it all. That is why I stick around. I am basically at a stand still with mine. I have two left that I have NEVER heard from and that is ok with me. THis site save me in so many ways and I remember the desperation I felt when I made that first post...my life has completely changed and I have been helping one of my coworkers who in up to her eyeballs in storefronts. She has not done anything about them yet...but she is starting to see the light. I thought myslef the biggest looser in the world until I found I was not alone and accepted the fact that I made mistakes that I needed to fix. It certainly helps to share the burden. SOmetimes, I still feel out of my element with the technical stuff, but I know that even if I can not answer those questions, the moral support is just as important.
