I seem to be making one mistake after another with this debt process...not with these PDL's but managing my finances in genereal ...I see now why I got into the messes I have. At any rate, I am going to have to get smart and stop making stupid mistakes...like sending checks out early, paying more than I can afford on some debts out of fear. Paying things when I know it will leave me too short to get by the week?
I joined the credit union for my work place and am going to try to get a small amount of savings done every pay day so I will have some cushion in the event of an emergency.

egypt, good plan. And you're not "messing up". You're learning now. This is a good thing! Very Happy I understand what you're saying, as I did the same thing myself. Now I've come to realize that "okay, I can't pay this out of this check or I'll be poor, so I'll pay it out of my next check". I now go out and get my gas, buy some groceries, then go through my bills and figure out what ones need to be paid RIGHT NOW and which ones can wait a week. You can do it. You already realize that you need to make some modifications. That's the first step! egypt, this whole process is going to be a learning experience for you. And, when you're through, you're going to feel awesome!

Have $20/paycheck direct deposited into a high yield savings account.

I have an account that takes $1 everytime I use my debit card and puts it into a savings account at 5% interest....which is pretty good. Anything you can get that will help your $20 grow it really nice, but even if you just have it stashed in a savings account with .5-1% interest, you've got $$ in savings!! Very Happy

One less trip for "non-essentials" at Walmart! That'll do it right there, egypt! I know it would for me! "Do I need that? No!" Money saved!

Yes...but you know those non-essential things have been curtailed because of the PDL's for quite sometime...No money for anything extra, you know? So now that they are on their way out?
Hmmm. I did check with T & C today and am not sure I liked all the answers she gave me? A bit too vague?

So, you didn't like T&C? Were they not helpful? What do you mean by vague?

Well for example when I asked if these folk would still try to sue, she just said probably not...that they just want their money and once they heard from them they usually did not try anything like that.
I am really panicky today as I just realized that by the time I pay my car note and electric and phone bill I will not be able to get anything to any of these PDL people...even the last $115 I had to pay the ones that arranged a paydown. The companies are calling every day now and I still have not gotten a letter off to them I had one company expecting $100 and another expecting $165. I can make neither.
I am not sure what to do now. I can't even afford to buy the ink for the printer to get these letters done.
Please tell me again that this gets better. What do you suggest I do? Call them?

Just hang in there . . . It will get better!

Just do what you can. That's all you can do! Take care of yourself first - Rent, food, electricity, the important things are priority. Then deal with the pdl's.

Maybe take your phone off the hook or put the ringer on silent? Give yourself a bit of a break!

Thanks Goudah. I feel myself relaxing as I type. I have to take things one day at a time, I know. I just hate to shirk responsibilities and I feel like, as insane as it is that I am doing that. Even these store fronts I have had for a year to 10 years and I know I have paid out the wazoo to?

I just got a call from the Check Into Cash woman who I told that the account was closed, who said many do have a closed account and as *long as they do not know about it*, they can continue. Well today she called and said the bank told her the account was still open and the funds are available. I told her that was impossible, because it had been closed. I asked her what account number she had given them and she told me the old one...I told her other members of our family had an account so perhaps it was a mistake.
Then I called my bank and spoke with the gal who assisted me with closing the account. She reassured me that it was closed and that they will put not to give out the account info to anyone.
I think she is pressuring me into giving out my new account info.? How do you think she knows I have a new account? She says she cannot do a paydown unless the account is current, which requires a new account and check?
I originally posted this on my coping thread, but it belongs here.
I am becoming anal I know?
