I recently applied, but did not sign the loan application. I was "pre-approved" but did not finish the contract. Has anyone had problems w/ their credit info. being tainted due to the application process?

I don't trust any pdl place. They often sell the personal info to some other company or their affiliates and all of a sudden, there is a suspicious debit in the checking account. I am not trying to scare you. I want to make you aware of some of the illegal things these pdl places will do. In my opinion, you should close your checking account and open a new one, so that you remain safe

Steg is right, PDLS are sneaky. I have heard of people who didn't even apply for a loan suddenly getting money deposited into their account..Just because PDLS share info.
As far as credit, I haven't heard of anyone ever recieving a negative mark from a PDL.

You must call the pdl place and inform that you don't need a loan from them.

It will be good if you have from them in writing that they have deleted all your info from their system. This document will be a good proof in case any dispute results later.

Most PDL places report to a service called Teletrack, not a credit bureau, so no, they wouldn't ding your credit at this point. But like others have said, it would be proactive to tell them no, you don't want a loan.
