I have a internet payday loan, they are trying to prosecute me because I closed my account. I paid $400 to them and owed them 400 more . can they take a warrant out on me?

I don't think they can. That is a scare tactic, and a very cruel one. Don't worry about it. Who is your loan with? There is alot of information on this site about them threatening people with this. Also, just because you closed your account doesn't mean they can have you arrested. You have every right to close your account when you want to, as well as you have every right to block them from your accounts.

Please tell us what state you are in and the lender you are dealing with. Please do not worry about going to jail. This will not happen. If it did we would need much bigger jails.

NO! You can't go to jail for owing money! It's a civil matter, not a criminal matter. How much did you borrow from them, and what is the name of this company, what state are you in?

Pay Day Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Laughing want to take someone to jail! Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing for an illegal loan! I am so sorry for laughing but this company is crazy. As the other people have pointed out writing a "bad check" is a civil matter in some states. Even then you can go to the courts before your case comes up (I am not sure about SC)and pay the check. I am dealing with this company too and I live in NC where payday loans of any type are illegal.

ccn, you've already paid $400 and they say you owe $400? How much was the principle amount of the loan - the actual amount they deposited into your account?
