I am in Tennessee and have a couple PDL's out.

This week my bank account went majorly negative because my employer didn't deposit my check in the correct account (yes, I know, i shouldnt have spent until I saw it there. I saw it on my paystub and went about my day). Everything was small transactions --- $20, $2.25, $45, etc. The fees are insanely adding up, I've never seen anything like it. I already have a new bank account and my paycheck wont be going into this overdrafted one, BUT Im in the process of getting everything switched over.

Today I found out one of the Pay Day Loans places put my check through last night for $230. I started to freak out, as I usually get an extra courtesy day (only needed it once). I dont have the money in my account and my bank account now shows a charge for a 'valued services payments' int he amount of $347.93 and I think that might be the check. I called, they cant tell me until tomorrow what it is. If it's the check, that doesnt add up to the check amount and the overdraft fee, so I'm starting to think they might have bounced it.

I've always taken care of my PDL, but since this is store front and a check is involved-- can I get in major trouble with the law for bouncing their check if it bounced?? My sister tells me I can't, since it's a payday loan place, but I keep thinking because it's a check i can.

Thank you so much!
Nicole

Eventually you're going to have to pay for the check. I'm not completely understanding how this check came about? Was this a pre-dated check for a store front pdl loan?

I realize that I will pay the check. I dont have the funds for it RIGHT NOW, though, so what I was asking was if i could get in serious trouble if it bounces.

Yes, it was a check for a pdl.... It was taken out 2 weeks ago, and I was going to re-write. They put it through before I could do it.
