That was fast. They were to debit my account on Friday, April 4th, and the account was closed.

Any suggestions on what to do now? I filed a complaint with the BBB about Total Lending. What do I do about this collection agency? It's just begun...

Brian, send the collection agency a letter requesting validation of the debt.

Here is one that is posted on the site and that I have used.

http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/forums/about216.html

Here is the address

AIS Services, LLC
50 California St, Suite 1500
San Francisco, CA 94111

email: info(at)aisservicesllc.com
Phone (888) 920-1300
Fax (415) 651-9333

I faxed mine and followed up with a copy mailed certified return receipt.

I do owe them $210 on the principal, but that's it. No interest, no fees, because they're illegal in Oregon. Should I still send the debt validation letter anyway?

Also, should I send a cease and decist letter to both the original creditor and the collection agency via certified mail? Does anyone have a template for the cease and desist letter?

Thanks Roxy and thanks everyone for your help. Very Happy

collection agencies must be licensed in Oregon to collect . . . . I'd see if they were licensed.

Have you filed your complaints with the Oregon Dept of Banking? They can also help you find out if this collection agency is licensed to collect in Oregon.

G - I looked but couldn't find anything. Is it under a different name like "Finance and Insurance"?

Also, I still have had no results getting a password. I do the sign in and it says my email already exists, so I put my email in "lost your password", and it says it sent a password to my email but I NEVER get it. I've emailed Denny three times and another individual, but get no repsonse.

Try logging in using the default password - it's either 8 or 9 . . .

Yeah, sorry, I just call it that . . . Here's a link:

http://www.oregondfcs.org/

It's Oregon Division of Finance and Corporate Securities.

G - Thanks for the website info! I'm going to file complaints there as well.

I solved my login problems last night. My error. My spam filter was deleting the password emails being sent to me so I never saw them. I turned it off and there it was!

Goudah - Thanks again for all your help. It is MUCH appreciated. Your urging me to close my bank account immediately literally saved me from being evicted last weekend. I cannot thank you enough. Very Happy Brian in Oregon/ now "goldhelmet".

G - Yes, I'm in LO in the Lake Grove area. One of my sisters lives in Tualatin near Tualatin High School and another sister lived in Tualatin for a long time, but they just moved out to Canby. I was born and raised in LO.
