I have an urgent problem. Today I got a call from a TN number – 865-223-5506. I picked it up only because I have a friend who lives in TN. It was a call from a guy with an accent from what he said was United Legal Services. He said I am being sued and he has the affidavit with him. The number he said to call him back on was the number he called me with. He said he has to call my management and that my references are being sued, too because of me. He said it was for check fraud and something else. I asked what company he is from and he said DVB?? He said they present companies like Cash Net, etc. but this seems to have Geneva Roth written all over it. I have gotten confirmation from VIP Cash yet but this just seems to be Geneva. I told him I need to talk to my attorney general and obtain other legal advice before giving him a word. What should I do? I think he called my work because my supervisor was on the phone than said it was a personal matter and transferred him to the head supervisor. And now all of the supervisors were called to a meeting. I did this on my company computer and used company email but this is so stupid! I live in NJ, btw and I’m almost 100% these aren’t even legal. As you know, I tried to work with these people. Can someone please give me advice ASAP?? Thanks

the same thing as US NATIONAL BANK.one question,did this guy have a thick foreign accent?i see he does.it is a scam pure and simple.you are the latest to be called by these idiots.hang up on them next time he calls.he is actually calling from INDIA with a device that makes it look like he is calling from here.he won't do anything but call,so hang up in his ear.not worth your time to bother with.

Thanks, i wasn't so much worried about getting sued, i'm more worried about my bosses downstairs talking about me.. they are the kind that really get involved and i did use the company computer..

I got this same call and I live in california, they said it was cash net. these people were indian and gave me ficticious names. I never called them back to get payment info and they havent call me either. check for the state laws in you state, this will give you amunition. this website is great for help and encouragement. good luck and remember that you do have rights!

I just will be so screwed if they really called my work though! That's what worries me the most. Knowing them, they will drag our attorney in it and i'm sure he knows nothing about pdls and i might be suspended for using the internet and God knows I need money so badly.. i'm going through yet another family crisis and seeing a doctor twice a week for my brain tumor and i cant take this.

does anyone know of any instances where they actually did call the office? my office really doesn't play, and i know i can get in so much trouble.. i'm livid just thinking about it. i wasn't scared of being sued because who gets notified over the phone? I was never served papers, and even if i was sued, i'd be well prepared to go to court against this shady company. but the work thing is a different story.. does anyone think they actually called??

If they are stupid enough to disclose your personal information to your employer your employer should see this is some type of scam... When they call do they call a direct extension for you? Try not to worry, I know it's hard but I went through the same thing with them calling my work number.

If you have their number call them back and tell them you are someone from the company you work for. Tell them that after meeting with upper level management the company has decided to pursue prosecution against you as well and since you are now "working together" you would like an address to provide the FBI so that you can excahnge documents and combine it in to one lawsuit. I bet you they hang up on you and never call your work number again!

Well, your job should know that these are illegL IN NJ. Show them the laws. If you are in NJ they can threaten you, but they really do not have a legalleg to stand on. I am also in A state MA where these are not legal. They really cant touch you so dont worry about court. You need to get the point across to your job that seems to be your main concern

Thanks again - see, I have the kind of job that likes to sneak up on you.. in other words, they won't tell you anything right away, they'll work up chain of command first. I know this wasn't a legal loan and even if it was legal, i don't see how they could call my work! if they did call, i would get in so much trouble.. does this mean that they do sometimes call someone's employment? i work in a court house and maybe they won't be that stupid to call them but who knows?? they do things very carefully at my work and to be honest, even if they know it's a scam, they might tell IT to do a run of all the webpages i've been on, and all the emails i have sent, etc. this is my main concern. i wish i was around when the call might have come through! i woulda set them straight asap but i think my supervisor answered my line and they probably asked for a supervisor anyway. Straight up, it’s none of their business and I’m not the only one to use a company computer for personal reasons. This is so crazy, I cannot believe it.

They called me at work and I called them back and gave them the story that I no longer worked there and the company was pursuing legal.... they hung up and have never called my work back. Working for a court should really get them going and not call back Smile

Thanks, they did call me at work before but I hung up on them and gave them the riot act. I was more worried that they somehow got in touch with a boss. I'm probably over-reacting. I just gotta thanks this board for all of the support though! Because of this great place, I knew right away this was a scam and I wasn't really getting sued. Before I probably woulda given him money right on the spot! This was almost a joke, he said that my references are going to get in trouble because of me. Ha! I had to like beg him for the company name and he still give me.

United Legal does call work. They did for me tons of times and those kind of calls go through to our HR department because if you work on the floor (factory work) you cannot get calls unless they are emergency calls. And they told her in HR that they would be sending someone to come and get me. Well after a couple days of this she finally told them that she knew that what they were doing was illegal and to stop because the calls were being recorded and she would turn the tapes over to the police. She had to do this for a couple of the companies that were trying to call us at work.

What I would do is either talk to your boss and explain your situation (which is what we did) or call them and tell them that you are not allowed to get calls at work and if you do you may get fired and if you do they won't get paid.

Plus if you ask for validation from this company they say they won't give it to you until your account has been paid in full. Tell them that is a crock and illegal. You have the right to written proof of the debt BEFORE you pay.

Thanks, where do they come from? I never had a loan with Cash Net.. I pinned them with Geneva Roth because I got Smith Haynes off my back. But, I really don't know? If they did call my work, I don't see what my work could say anyway. It's none of their buisness pure and simple. I was wrong for using company email but i know i'm not the only one guilty of that..
Who do they think they are anyway? This is so crazy! Later on tonight, I'm about to send reports to the attorney general and the FTC. it seems so wrong - saying i have a federal case against me? I'm not scared they're gonna do anything to me but this is just not right!

Geneva roth are definate crooks and will charge you outragous fees, they will also threaten to send you to collections for non payment, but they do not threaten to send someone to arrest you, and they are pretty easy to work with you. this cash net company is a total fraud I googled cashnet and called both companies to see if I owed them any money or ever had an account with them and I didnt. so these people with an indian accent are scammers who probably get your info from a company that you applied for or got a loan with them. be ware of this scam!
