Are they licensed anywhere? Still under cease and desist order? Getting ready to email their compliance department and wanted to see what I am facing.

They are notorious for making illegal threats and being horrible to deal with. If your loan is with them and has not been turned over to an outside collection agency, they do not have to honor a cease and desist communications request.

Make sure to keep copies of all email correspondence in case you need to rely on it to file complaints against this company.

As for them being licensed, they might be licensed in the state they're located in, but I sincerely doubt they are licensed anywhere else.

Hi bigr. I had to deal with United Cash Loans myself, and I don't think that they are licensed anywhere...not even in the state that they are located in. But, I think this is one of the companies that claim Indian Reservation location rights, or something like that. They can't do anything to you, but they will harrass the mess out of you on the phone. When they call, just keep saying that you want to do all correspondence in writing and hang up. Even if they call you 50 times a day. Just be like a broken record and keep saying to put it in writing. I would also keep a record of how many times they call so that you can report it, if you plan to report to a state agency or the BBB.

I've had ameriloan calling me, and I used "You have been sent letters and emails reguarding this matter. Please refer to those. I also requested for you not to call my office phone as it is not to be used for personal business and this is a personal matter."

Ameriloan started up on my first because I took out one from them first, United Cash just began sending the same exact emails and I'm sure the calls will be starting from them soon....

I didn't realize they were claiming reservation rights? I doubt there are any Native Americans in the management of that/those companies...

I guess I am the only one who has actually had a good experience with UCL. I took out a $300 loan back in June (I think) and did not pay back one red cent due to NSF. So because of the renewal and the NSF my balance was up to $480. Just last week I got an email from them telling me about my balance. There was a link from the email to their website to set up a settlement offer and payment options. Their website and I settle for $432 at two payments of $216 each.

I took out a loan from them last year sometime and did the same thing and one of their reps called in and we were able to nicely and professionally work out payments.

I guess if you want to avoid the horror stories above, first off don't take out a loan with them and secondly if you do and are not able to pay it back, call them and work something out. It's worked for me a couple times.

It just sucks that their loan rate is outrageously high! $90 on a $300 loan? daaaaaang!!

I dealt with UCLs also. Hated them and they are sneaky, sneaky, sneaky. They like to send "paper" checks through.

Hi dtownmike. You are the first person I have heard of who had a good experience with them. You are right, their fees are outragious!!! $90 is alot of money to pay for a $300 loan!!! But, I did it...twice, in fact!!! I was so broke after repaying the first loan that I had to get a second! It was horrible!!!
Yep Tiffany...Indian Reservation! I called the Oklahoma AG office to just inquire about filing a complaint. Someone on the phone was nice enough to tell me that them and 500fastcash (who is also a part of the same MTE), are hard to touch because of some Indian Reservation law. So the best thing to do is to just remember that they are illegal and even though they threaten you, they can't do anything. Also, keep filing with the BBB and your state's regulators. I think the complaints help in general because it not only helps to warn others of their sneaky practices, but keeps bringing them to the attention of people who can maybe get something done to put them out of business.

Oh I got the settlement email as well. I didn't even bother clicking on the link. They are beginning to do that settlement thing now I think because too many of us have fought back, so they are just trying to get as much illegal money out of us as they can.

I'm not going to settle with them for the 480 they think I owe. Besides I have nothing to offer when going into the settlement. I just got a second job, and I'm late on my car payments, it is getting colder and I need wood, I wouldn't be able to pay them back for a long time anyway, and they won't accept that settlement. So they can wait, they'll get back what I borrowed, and no more, I don't want to encourage them in their illegal practices.....

Poko, Do what you need to do. You need to take care of yourself. I understand that you wantt to pay back what you borrowed, but you can only do it when you have a bit extra. Now your needs come first. They will have to just be a bit patient

Luckily, prescription assistance came through, and I don't have to worry about spending $80+ every month and a half now, plus a bunch of free diabetic supplies from an Aunt! So yeah, taking care of myself (and my family!) was way more important, which is what got me into the mess in the first place. But now I have one less expense to worry about, now I can concentrate on my housing and then I'll worry about paying people back!
