Has anyone actually dealt with these people and had them quit calling?? I am hoping now that I am not talking to them, they will just stop but they sure have been aggressive.

Just IGNORE them. If they are illegal and overpaid, what recourse of Legal action could they posibbly take? Think about it. I have done that and no phone calls after 2 weeks of them calling. It has been 3 months now for me and not one call, except to say you are PIF and we sent your refund by mail. Very Happy Eventually they will give up. You are not obligated to speak with them. Communicate through email or US postal, AG office, BBB and that's it! If you continue to speak with them you will stress yourself out Confused

I know you keep telling me to ignore these people but they will not quit calling. They just called me at home again tonight. My daughter handed me the phone before she realized who it was. The guy transferred me to the restitution officer who told me I would be arrested at my place of employment and put in prison. He told me to pray a lot tonight. I told him all the things you guys say, that I had filed a complaint with the Attorney General (and I have), that I have sent a cease and desist letter but it does no good ... he just goes on and on and on. I told him again I had never had a loan with Cash Today. He told me it was not Cash Today. It was Sonic Payday. I have never had one with Sonic Payday either. He said it didn't matter, they represented 250 companies and it could be any of them. I asked AGAIN for a debt validation letter but they said they don't do this. I asked three times for their address and they said i didn't need it. I am supposed to call them tomorrow with my decision . I have been trying to ignore their calls and thought they had given up but it started up again tonight. I say all the things it says to in these posts, I have sent cease and desist letter and they just are not stopping. what is the next step? I did get a copy of my bank statement from 2006 and I see a couple of loans I know were not paid off. Should I try and call those people directly to make arrangements?? I am about to lose it here.

This is so sad you actually believe you talked to a so called "restitution officer". It's even more upsetting you are in fear of actually being arrested at work Mad Who are they fooling Evil or Very Mad It probably was some guy in the back office or the next cubicle over. You are not the first one, there are many others on this forum who have been threatened with this. It is a scare tactic and they are full of BS! Ok, I see at this point you are in total fear and they seem to be in control, so in order for us to help, you MUST stop ALL COMMUNICATION with them ASAP. If they do not send you a debt validation like you requested then to bad for them. CEASE ALL communication with them, you are drivin yourself nuts, geez Confused Furthermore if you know you never had a loan with these companies why are you allowing this to happen? If he is telling you random names of PDLs to get a chunk of money from you because he pulled your name from a database, HE is WRONG! This is a scam!! STAND UP for yourself and HANG UP on him! You have to be in control of this situation! This has fdcpa violations and major law suit written all over it, oh my gosh Exclamation

Sorry. I know I am freaking out over this. I guess I tried doing what you guys said by ignoring them but they just don't stop. The only reason I talked to them last night if because my daughter handed me the phone. I have now instructed both of my kids to not answer the phone if they do not know the number of the Caller ID. I am not really worried about being arrested, but I am worried about them calling my employer. I did take your advice and told the swithboard operator, Human Resources and the girl that backs me up on my phone so they are aware. I did check with the two payday loans I had during that time period and they both assure me I am okay with them. This is the final thing that confirmed to me I don't owe anyone anything from that time frame. Sorry guys. Like I have seen other people say on here, I am an honest person that pays my bills (or tries really hard to) and this has just been really upsetting. I did send the debt validation letter and cease and desist but they give you bogus addresses so I doubt they ever received them.

it's me again.do not worry,if they were going to
do anything they would have done it already.
no legit debt collector would keep calling like
this if they had any actions to take.it saddens me
that you are reacting like this.if you end up on
the phone with habib, omar,or whoever.just laugh
and hang up.you will not be arrested,i guarantee it.
