Okay, they called again yesterday and left a message on my home phone. I did not return the call. I did ask for a debt validation in writing early on but, of course, they will not provide it. Paulmergel, I am trying to take your advice and not talk to them but they continue to call. It is true the calls are only about once a day now a couple of times per week instead of 3-4 times per week several times per day but how do I get them to stop once and for all?????

I think the calls are starting to slow down a little. I think, but not sure, that I am down to maybe 2-3 calls per week instead of that many per day. I say I am not sure because I do not answer the calls but I do keep a record of what is on the caller ID. I got a call last night from 305-433-7249 but did not answer. I got another call yesterday morning from National City Bank at 440-546-6000. I have never heard of them before. Are they connected with these other illegal guys somehow??? I sent Bass a cease and desist last week but have not received the return receipt back yet.

One more thing ... the lawyer I talked to last week said if the calls continued, he would call them for me but will that just keep them calling more??

Do they sound foreign? Don Wilson was calling me at work until the HR Dept told the receiptionist to tell them they are not allowed to call me at work (they don't have my home number). They have been calling for 2 weeks but didn't call yesterday or today. I also got the blessing message and a "be careful driving home". My HR Dept said they checked out the company and said it is just a scam. If you keep not answering they will stop calling. The loan they called me about was paid in full in 2005. 2 weeks seems to be their time frame before they stop calling.

I learned to let the calls go to voice mail, then I can listen & laugh as they mangle the words...I think I get 1 a month now, but they don't leave messages anymore.

I just posted about this on another post. Ripoffreport has info on the US National Bank Federal Crime Division scam. One post actually names Don Wilson as one of the contacts. Anyaroberts suggests blowing a bullhorn in their ear the next time they call. . . . .I have to agree with the suggestion.

PostPosted: Tue Jul 15, 2008 4:18 pm Subject: These phone calls

Just wanted to add my two cents. I have received calls from these people for years - really - but they come in waves. I never talk to them (I tried and found out quickly that they don't play fair, won't send verification, won't do anything a real collection agency would do). I let them go to voice mail, and the message is always exactly the same, with a different name inserted - always in the thick foreign accent. Unfortunately, they have also called my former employer - one I worked for over two years ago when I took out a pdl (that was paid off). They still call there, even though I don't work there and they have been told repeatedly that I don't work there. My former boss finally got in their face - so to speak - and asked them to stop calling. We'll see if it works. If I were you, J, I would let my boss know about the calls in case one gets through. I had told my former boss about them before he ever got one, and that made all the difference. He was on my side instead of theirs, because make no mistake, they will try the threats with the boss, too. Good luck!

Don't say a word, hang up, don't give them anyone to converse with, they will eventually give up. Did you report them to the police?
