Can anyone recommend a good company I can work with to settle my payday loans?
I am located in Utah, which from what I understand is a very friendly state to payday lenders. All of mine are internet loans. I'm adding up the totals and amounts right now. I'm not currently in default, but can no loner afford the payments.
Should I close my checking account right away, or is it better to wait until I've gone into default?
Also, once I go into default, will they immediately start calling my references? I want to avoid it if at all possible.
Any advice on how to settle these myself will also be greatle appreciated.
Thanks,
Ryan

Here is a list of the lenders and principal amounts owed:
CashnetUSA: $1,000
247Advances: $200
United Cash Loans: $350
JD Marketing: $300
Summit Group: $300
MyCashnow: $100.00
Check City: $700
ACC: $300
PaydayMax: $400
Paydayone: $500
Any help from people who have worked something out with any of these lenders on their own would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Ryan

i am sure you have made payments to some of them....how much to each? and before you close your account make sure you read
| Quote: | Before you close your bank account due to payday loans eating away at your paycheck, please read this.
Some banks have a policy regarding ach transactions that allows them to force open closed accounts if any ach transactions go through within a certain time frame after the account is closed. This can leave you owing a legal bank $1,000's and reported to chexsystems, instead of owing barely legal (or not at all legal) payday loan companies. Not a good thing. Ask your bank what their policy is on ach transactions on closed accounts before you close the account. It's best to go in person and talk to a branch manager.
If your bank does have this policy, tell them your situation. Don't be embarrassed. Take letters with you showing that you have revoked authorization for each of your payday loan companies to debit your account. Tell the bank to put your account on deposit only, an ach block, or a hard hold before they close the account. Your bank can do one of those, don't take no for an answer. This will prevent any payday loan ach's from reopening the bank account.
It'a always best to close your bank account. Leaving it open gives ways for the payday loan companies to continue to take money out. These companies have many different dba's, so blocking them won't work. They will also produce paper checks and run them through your account. Closing the account is the best way to prevent these companies from taking money out of your account.
Some state laws do allow for prosecution if you close your bank account, but that is usually in cases of fraud. But it's always best to check with your state's attorney general or department of financial institution before you close your account. You want to make sure you are not causing more heacaches! |
this is located at the top as a sticky!

So I got this back from 247 Advances after submitting my Cease and Desist to them.
"The Loan Agreement, to which we have adhered to by funding the loan, detailed that your loan was subject to the Arbitration Laws of Ireland, a fact by which you confirmed your understanding and acceptance of via the online signature you made. Please note, we are not a US company, have never prescribed to be a US company and have no US presence, as such are not subject to the US laws you detail. Please refer to your copy of the Loan Agreement. Under the terms of the Agreement you consented to make payments via ACH until the loan was satisfied in full. We will continue to make all reasonable attempts to make contact and to attempt collection of all funds due and payable to enable the loan agreement to be satisfied, as per the original provisions. Regards, Customer Services"
Now what should I do?

Cashnet USA, PaydayOne, and Check City are all licensed in UT so I should probably be working with them for payment arrangements first correct?

Just just off the phone with JD Marketing.
They have agreed to mark my loan as paid in full!!!!!
That takes care of two off of my list.
Hopefully I can get the rest resolved soon.

Anyone have any tips on dealing with United Cash Loans? So far I have paid $315 in rollover fees on a $350 dollar loan. I sent the an offer to settle the loan for the additional $35 I owe in principal but have only received an emial back saying that they have received my inquiry and to call customer service if I have any more questions.

So I've decided to go with Town and County to help me get out of this mess. I just spoke with them on the phone and their rates seem resonable.
I know I could propably do this on my own, but I'm facing some health problems that are being made worse by this situation and having someone else take care of this allows me to concentrate of my health and life.
I want to thank everyone for their advice. I'll probably stay around and lurk since I've come to enjoy reading these forums.

Town and Country has my first payment and said they would start contacting the PDLs today for me. Which is good because they are going to find out tomorrow that my checking acount is closed when they try and debit it.
While I feel good about the situation, I am still really scared about what is going to happen. If anyone has any spare happy thoughts or energy, I'd appreciate it being sent my way.
Thanks,
Ryan

If you are going with T&C, anytime the pdl's call, just refer them there and hang up. I wouldn't bother to talk to them, since you have hired a company to deal with them for you.

Thanks guys.
It was really stupid of me to get all of these loans and I keep beating myself up over it. This could very well cost me my marriage (soemthing I am extremely fearful of as my wife and kids are everything to me). Coupled with my health problems it just gets a little overwhelming at times for me.
I'm glad I found a place where I can come and find support.
Thanks again.
