have gotten into a payday loan mess. I have 9 payday loans. I am very thankful that I found this site. I have contacted the Department of regulations for the state of MD and they have been a great help. However, I do need more information on Zip19. They sent me a letter after I have filed a complaint with the better business bureau that they are legal in Canada and have nothing to do with the MD state laws. I spoke with the Attorney Generals office about this and they stated that they (PDLs) always say that. I do have a cease and desist letter from the Attorney General which I plan on sending to them. My concern is them contacting my referrals. I have already spoken with the payroll department and they are under strict orders to contact Suzanne Elbon or myself if they attempt to garnish my wages. Has anyone here had experience with them contacting referrals and employers after a C&D letter was sent.

Welcome! Well, my experience was that even though I had sent my C and D letter, one PDL contacted one of my references, one time, and one time only. You have spoken with your payroll department and that is a good thing. The others never tried to contact anyone so that should be enouraging to you. As far as their being in Canada, if that is really where they are, it has nothing to do with Maryland. If you are speaking of zip19.com, try sending your C and D letter to this address. . . js@blizzardi.com. Keep us posted.

I sent the first letter to Malta Financial services. I am not sure if they will help but this is what I wrote. The 2nd letter was sent to ZIP19, Northway Financial and Malta Financial Service complaint dept. Just give you some background on this loan. I filed a complaint with the bbb.org regarding this loan and their response was that they did not have to abide by the laws of Maryland and that they operated under the laws in Canada.
Are you aware that you are dealing with a payday loan company called Zip19 who are processing loans illegally in the United States. They are not licensed to do business here. They have stated that they are not obligated to follow the laws in the state of Maryland. Why is this? I have contacted the BBB.org and my Attorney General Office regarding this matter. They have received a cease & desist letter from the Attorney Generals office here and they keep changing their name so that they can keep doing illegal business here. I have contacted the Federal Trade Commission regarding this as well. Your organization needs to do something about this illegal activity. I am sure that you are aware that ZIP19 is working with Northway Financial. http://www.dllr.state.md.us/da/default.aspx?OrderID=17 here is the link that I have provided to you in a previous email sent. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To: customercare (@) zip19.com; info (@) northwayfinancial.com; consumerinfo (@) mfsa.com.mt Subject: Account Information Date: Mon, 21 Jul 2008 06:43:26 -0700 Attention Zip19, Cash transfers, Northway Financial Thank you for responding to the Better Business Bureau complaint that I sent regarding account# -------. I have forwarded this information to the Attorneys General Office. They have advised me again that this loan is considered void due to the fact you are not licensed here in Maryland and you are operating here illegally. Please visit The Department of Labor Licensing and Regulation website for the Cease and Desist letter that they sent to you http://www.dllr.state.md.us/da/default.aspx?OrderID=17 in April 2007. I have supplied you with the link. The only person you will be contacting from now on regarding this loan is Suzanne Elbon at (410) 230-6073 from The Department of Labor Licensing and Regulation she has no problem with speaking with you regarding this account. Also, please note that I am informing you once again that I am revoking the wage assignment letter. I have advised the payroll department regarding this matter and they are under strict orders to contact me and Suzanne Elbon. Thank you for your cooperation, |

That group will send a settlement offer usually for about 50 percent after thier wage assignment fails. They have no legal means of collecting otherwise. It is up to you to take it or not. It will come from another DBA which is still them.

I am in charge of payroll at my company and I received a phone call and email from ZIP19 asking for employment verification. I instructed them to provide me with a signed release from the employee that I am permitted to release this information. They emailed me a letter, no authorization. So I took it upon myself and called the employee to verify and he said absolutly not, do not give his information. That he NEVER inquired with ZIP19 or anything relevant. So, I called the number listed on the "letter" and not to my suprise duh no authorization....This place is a scam!
