I guess this would be the right place to put this.

This is report that come out in February about Consumer Protection in the States.

I have not read it all yet but it looks like a fairly intersting report if you have some time or maybe are bored at work.

Take a look at it.

I have downloaded the file and gave a quick glance. It seems interesting. I'll definitely go through it. Thanks Nohiogal.

I have 5 outstanding internet payday loans. I have paid alot of money to these companies already that does not even touch the principal amount due. I have been searching the internet and the supreme court law library where I live to compare the laws that have been cited on the internet in regard to internet payday loans. I have come to the conclusion that I they are illegal in the state of New York. I have already contacted my bank to stop ach payments of any kind and will close this account and open a new account. Although I am feeling a little afraid that I might be wrong and end up having law suits against me I am going to not pay any more money but I will pay the principal minus the fees, etc. that I have already paid. My question is: Am I correct in my assessment of this situation? Can someone give me conformation on this? I have had internet payday loans in the past (the same companies that I am dealing with now) and did not have a problem paying them back but then a ran into hard times. That is why I have been having trouble paying them back.

This may be the wrong thread for this, but my advice to you is save money to catch them up. A lot of these places will work with you so long as you are making an effort. Try your best to pay them off and if they take you to court then handle it from that point
