Sub: How do I know if Crown Lending and United Cash Loans are legal in PA?

good evening friends, i am here because i to unfortunatly fell victim to two pdl's CROWN LENDING and UNITED CASH LOANS. Each loan is in the amount of 200.00 each. i have so far paid 60.00 each. thursday will be 120.00 each. i live in pennsylvania. i could really use some help, because i know that i signed up for united cash loans, but i was in the process of speaking with someone at crown lending when we were disconected. They were holding for bank verification, when i was cut off. i never fully completed any authorization. is this legal? the money was deposited in my account. i do not have a website for CROWN LENDING nore a email conformation. (the only paper work i have states my annual % rate is 842.31% finance charge is $60.00 amount financed is 200.00) Also i have noticed that my account number is correct but my banking institution is wrong.i have no actuall loan document i know i should not have used a pdl but at the time i was against a wall. the only thing from CROWN LENDING i have is on my bank statement which is 1 866 556 9434. and as for the fast cash i recieved a letter of pay ment three days after the first "paydown" amount was taken from my account. how can i find out if either of these so called loan companies are legal. not to mention i check my email every day and i have atleast 30 emails for advances. no matter how many i take my name off of they double in number. i thank god for people like you looking out for those of us who in week moments look for the easy way out. i thank you gratly for your time and beg for any assistance you can offer. Jason

Jason, Welcome to the site. We will be more than happy to help you out with this...so far I see

You are in PA, you have two pdls

Crown Lending - borrowed 200 - paid 60
United Cash Loans - borrowed 200 - paid 60.

I will post the laws for PA.

You will find the Payday loan laws for Pennsylvania here (just select your state),
http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com...pdls-laws.html

Internet lenders can lend in PA as long as they are licensed in another state and they have to follow the laws of that state.

Pa is the loophole state. If a pdl is licensed anywhere it is legal in PA

I know United Cash Loans will not be licensed anywhere. However, I am not sure of Crown Lending.

Both Crown and United are not licensed in any State. You are only obligated to pay the principal. Which is $200 per company. There is only one Crown Lending, with a drop box mail location in TX. These guys take foreign addresses to evade the law.

Does anyone know how these illegal/unregulated internet lenders fund these loans? Do they partner with the national or state banks through ACH system. Would the bank then fund the loan and the lender/pdl loan company collect on it (and the bank stays out of the transaction)?? Make you wonder, where are they getting the money from. Can anyone shed light on this mystery, or correct me if I'm wrong.

keys, first step is CLOSE THAT ACCOUNT. Do not send the pdls any letter until this account is to the point (however you have to do it) to where they can no longer access it. I'm going to post something by goudah for you to read regarding closing your bank account, okay? Read this and post any questions. You need to get the bank straightened out FIRST. Then we do have letters that we can send you that you can mail to your pdls (both of which will be considered unlicensed/illegal). And do not worry about asking questions. We will help you the entire way. Here is the information regarding closing bank accounts. Please post any questions. Once we get the bank account straightened out, we're going to send letters to your illegal plds.

Before you close your bank account due to payday loans eating away at your paycheck, please read this.

Some banks have a policy regarding ach transactions that allows them to force open closed accounts if any ach transactions go through within a certain time frame after the account is closed. This can leave you owing a legal bank $1,000's and reported to chexsystems, instead of owing barely legal (or not at all legal) payday loan companies. Not a good thing. Ask your bank what their policy is on ach transactions on closed accounts before you close the account. It's best to go in person and talk to a branch manager.

If your bank does have this policy, tell them your situation. Don't be embarrassed. Take letters with you showing that you have revoked authorization for each of your payday loan companies to debit your account. Tell the bank to put your account on deposit only, an ach block, or a hard hold before they close the account. Your bank can do one of those, don't take no for an answer. This will prevent any payday loan ach's from reopening the bank account.

It'a always best to close your bank account. Leaving it open gives ways for the payday loan companies to continue to take money out. These companies have many different dba's, so blocking them won't work. They will also produce paper checks and run them through your account. Closing the account is the best way to prevent these companies from taking money out of your account.

Some state laws do allow for prosecution if you close your bank account, but that is usually in cases of fraud. But it's always best to check with your state's attorney general or department of financial institution before you close your account. You want to make sure you are not causing more heacaches!
