There are lots of doggie avatars on here and I just wanted to pose a question to you all and learn a bit about your pets. Do you have a mutt or a pure breed? What funny things do they do? Or if you even want to talk about annoying things that they do, see if anyone has advice on how to get them to stop....
So here I go.
I have two. I recently aquired a new one, one that is officially "my dog" which inspired this thread.
1st off is Brodie. He is a boder collie and australian cattle dog mix (also mis-known as blue heeler). He's the cute pup in my avatar. He acts just like a small boy, like he wants to be a real human boy someday. We've even heard him whine what sounded like "mom." He is a year old this month. He isn't mine, but he puts up with me, and doesn't mind me too much.
My dog however is a Dingo and we have called him Ahz (pronouced just like OZ only we spelled out the pronuciation). Someone had gotten him to be a cow dog (even docked his tail), but put him out to pasture when that didn't work out to well and have been trying to get rid of him since. We went to check him out, and we knew he was supposed to be ours when the lady said, "that is the first time he hasn't hidden from people coming to look at him." He was left to get fat, and the lady said her husband was mean to him. He's much happier now. He's lost a lot of weight already too, but he's a scavenger and loves food. They called him Bandit previous because he likes to steal things, if you drop it, he'll pick it up. He doesn't chew it, he just picks it up.
He likes me a lot, he wags his 'nubbin' (because he has no tail) when he sees me. He's very cute. I will probably change my avatar when I get a good picture of him.
So people, tell me about your puppy love!

What about the video of where he was forced to sing it to Rosie O'Donnell in a dog suit as an apology for something he did....

Volley, and anyone else for that matter. Feel free to talk about any pet, cat, iguana, whatever... I used to be a cat person but when you are with someone allergic to cats... Well I've become a bit of a dog person now. But puppy love seemed like a better thread topic than "tell me about your pets!"....

i had 3 cats and one actually used the toilet. if you walked in, he would look at you as if though to say, what's the problem, don't you do it too. now if could have gotten him to flush afterwards and wash his hands.

Okay, I could talk forever about my boys!
I have a 5 year old pure Pug. As most know his name is Goudah. He's the sweetest little dog. Pugs are companion dogs, so he always wants to be in the middle of everything.
Some things he does that are cute:
*He will only play with little stuffed animal pugs. No other breeds (although he plays with a schnauzer toy occasionally). I've tried all sorts of toys, but he has no interest.
*He loves to wear things around his neck. Everytime he goes to the pet store he grabs a collar. The second I touch it he will sit very straight waiting for me to put it on, and once I do he sort of prances around showing it off. He also likes to wear bandanas. He refuses to wear anything else. I'm not the type to dress up my dog, but I did buy a halloween costume one year. I put it on him and he just sat there and stared at me. Wouldn't move an inch. So i snapped a few pics and in the closet it went.
*He also can't really eat dog food. He has a lot of food allergies. So I have to feed him special food, and he won't eat it himself. It has to be fed to him.
*He loves to lick people's faces. He won't stop until you make him.
*He is very attracted to things that are pink.
*He also has no interest in being in charge. He will follow you anywhere, and anytime he meets another dog, he will immediatly roll over to let that dog sniff him.
Then there is Jake, my sisters dog. He is a pure Schnauzer. He is a mini, but he is 45 pounds of pure muscle. This dog is really strong. And he has an attitude problem. Technically, it's called fear aggression. He will attack anyone or anything he sees. So I don't have many people over. He is the alpha dog in the house, and since Goudah is a follower dog, it all works out.
*He also is really wierd. He is scared to death of plastic bags.
*If something falls and makes a loud sound, he won't go in that room for weeks.
*He can always sense when it's time for a walk.
*He is a stress eater. When someone knocks at the door or someone is leaving, he will run to his food bowl to grab a bite.
*He also likes to put his stuffed animal schnauzer toy with his head in his food bowl. Don't know why he does this, but he positions it perfectly to make it look like he is eating.
*Oh, Jake also tries to sit like a human. He will sit on the couch like a human would sit.
*He also loves to have his armpits pet.
I could go on and on . . . . But I'll stop for now.

I'm not a fan of poodles. My granny had a teacup named Chi-Chi, what an awful dog. We didn't get along real well. She was tough though, blind and deaf, falling down the stairs all the time, but kept getting up and going....

OK..this may be a good thread for me too. As many of you know I am living alone now..total empty nester. I have wanted a pup for the longest time...but I also work full time. Any suggestions on what bread to get?? Or how hard it would be to train him/her since I am gone at least 5 days a week?? I will be moving home in the spring to a new apartment probably bigger than where I am now...I was thinking of a Yorkie?? Good idea??

Morning - I'm not sure about apartment type breeds. Herding dogs are pretty easy to train, and a Corgi is about the smallest those go. They are smart, but sometimes that can be a bad thing because it means when they are made they don't just tear up a house, they go after something specific depending on who what or why they are mad.... And Corgi's can be very protective, that is why the Queen has so many. I've heard hers are very mean though....
I'm not sure about lap dogs. Shi Tzu's that I've met seem to be okay by themselves, but the ones I know are stuck up and spoiled rotten, and are not particularly good at getting outside to use the potty....

We have the following....
*Barney*
-German Shepherd Mix dog, age 1.5 yrs, very active, loveable, protective, etc. He's a counter-surfer - is just tall enough to stick his nose on the edge of the counter and "surf" along it to find anything we might have been silly enough to leave within his reach.
*Larry the Lizard*
-a 4" long Five-Lined Skink - the only lizard native to the state of Michigan. I rescued him from a bookshelf in the president's office at the company I work for. We were doing construction on our new building at the time, and had apparently disturbed his habitat enough outside that he came in to get away from all the stuff going on out there. He's been with us for 1.5 years and is still going strong.
*Gabby*
-Gabby is our latest addition - a little gray tabby kitten with long hair. She's still learning about everyone, and trying to figure out the dog (and the dog is trying to figure HER out), but so far, so good.
And we miss our sweet Tootie....
our Corgi who passed away from Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (A.L.L.) this August.

Oh gosh ~ I have 3 dogs...a lab/setter mix named Belle, a chow/shephard mix named Chico, and a poodle named Sassy.
Belle is a mother hen. She is a reddish/brown color and has white going up her legs, she has a white tip on on her tain and a few white places on her head. She loves babies and when she hears them cry, she will usually go up and lick them and lay with them until they quit. Well fist she has to smell them from head to toe, the she goes into mother hen mode. She loves to give hugs and will lileraly(sp) put her paws around your neck and lay her head on your shoulder. She also likes to dance with us. If we are goofing off and dancing and she is in the house, she will come and jump up on one of us until we take her paws and dance with her. She also loves her swimming pool. When we start filling it up, she will get in there and roll around the pool getting wet. When it gets partially filled, she will get in, go around in circles putting her face in off and on and finially lay down to while it is filling the swirl of the water as it fills. She is about 10 or 11 years old.
Chico is the "middle child". He is a ladies man! LOL Actually he is a mommy's boy. He is gorgious. He is brown and black, has that turned up tell, his eyes look like they have black eyeliner around them and he has a spotted tongue. Now this boy is a mess!! He is the only dog that I know that likes toothpaste! If I am brushing my teeth, he will come in the bathroom and push on my elbow until I notice him and then he will look at me, drooling and wagging his tail, until I put some toothpaste on my finger and put it down to where he can get it. He will sniff it a bit and try to rub his face in it (which I prevent him from doing) and then go roll on the floor. Then he comes back and will lick the toothpaste off my finger and then go roll in the floor again and come back wanting more. He also loves soap. If he can get into the bathroom while someone is taking a bath or shower, he will try to rub his face and neck onto any part of that person's body he can reach that has soap on it. He goes nuts! He is very strange. He is about 2 years younger than Belle, we think. He was a stray that was found and was initially given to my mother and she ended up giving him to us. Oh, he also likes to climb fences, so we have to keep a hot wire around our fence to keep him from climbing out!
Now Sassy, well she is another story. I sometimes wonder if she is gay! Belle is scared to death of storms and loud noises and she will shake like a leaf. Sassy takes advantage of that and will try to hump Belle's head!! We stop her when we catch her, but we aren't sure about her though. LOL She is also very possessive of me. She thinks I totally belong to her. She thinks she is as big as the big dogs are. If we give the big dogs a bone and her a smaller one, she will not chew her smaller one. She likes to get the big ones and she will drag them and chew on them. Also if the big dogs are playing and running, she will grab one of their tails and hold on for dear life and she ends up getting swung around. The ignore her for the most part, but it is so funny watching her fly through the air. Her name fits her to a tea! Sometimes she will be trying to get my attention and I will start shaking my finger at her telling her to quit sassing me and it is almost like she is talking back to me and getting smart with me. She is definitly not one of those prissy poodles, that is for sure. In fact, getting ready to give her a bath to take her with us because she has been out rolling in the dirt with the big dogs. She is also our escape artist. She gets locked up in the kitchen at night with the other 2 and she will find a way to get out and jump on the bed and cuddle with me.
All 3 are spoiled rotten, but wouldn't trade them for nothing!
