Hi everyone. Just to share, I suffer from some sciatic problems. It is on my right side and from time to time, I feel tingling in my foot and have terrible cramping in my right leg. I usually feel it twinge a little each day, but sometimes it really gets out of control and I have to just lie down with my legs propped up on pillows to get relief. Does anyone else here have this problem, and if so, what do you do to get relief?

Thanks, Ang. It is awful. I sometimes get cortizone shots, too, but I try to hold off as long as possible. It is just so annoying!

Eleroo, my therapist recommended a tennis ball in a sock and use it against the wall and roll it around. Works for me a little.

Thanks Roxy. I'm going to try it. I have been getting by with stretches, and sometimes my husband will press his fist in my lower back really hard. It hurts, but I can feel a little relief. I also have an ice pack on it. I'm hoping that the area is just swollen and pressing on the nerve.

Just put the ball between you and the wall and move it arount to make it roll. My husband will also roll it on my lower back and hip and it helps.

I have no clue why I am posting twice on this thread. I wanted to add that it was given to me by my physical therapist so it should not be harmful or do any additional damage since you control the pressure by how hard you lean into the ball.

So sorry about the pain Eleroo!
My dad & both sisters get it. I never had it until I got pregnant. As soon as I hit the 4th month I got it. Mine is just a sharp pain in the butt. I can bend down-even if I bend at the knees. Sometimes the pain radiates into my mid-thigh & ends as a dull ache.
I find the best relief is my office chair at home. I think its the angle its on that makes it better & takes the pressure off

Thanks Roxy and LeeLee. I get the pain in my butt, too and it goes down my thigh and makes my calve cramp. I used to do alot of running and step aerobics so that's where it started. I'm going to try the tennis ball trick, Roxy. I will let you know if it works for me. Another thing I heard was to fill a plastic soda bottle with water and put it in the freezer to get it frozen. Then lie down on the floor and roll around on the soda bottle. I haven't tried it yet, but I will and will let you know how it works.

I hope it goes away Roxy!! Its not fun!!
How about a massage Eleroo? Do you have any children in your house? When I was little Dad would have me walk on his lower back to help the muscle.
Roxy, I'm tempted to get a massage, but they are SO expensive here! Its not horrible yet. Good thing about the hospital I'm giving birth in...they have a massage therapist on staff & you get a FREE massage while you are there or a certificate for a free one after!
