My second grader had this story problem on his math homework. He figured it out pretty quickly, but I have to confess, I struggled a little bit. I think my boy thinks I must be dense..But I'm consoling myself by remembering that he is mathmatically inclined, and it's been a long time since I've done math at this level. So can you guys figure it out?
The Riddler has left a clue for Batman to follow at the scene of each crime. These are the clues that batman has found:
1.There is a 1 in the thousands place
2.the digits in the tens place is 9x the digit in the thousands place.
3.multiply the digit in the thousnads place by 2.
4.the digit in the ones place is a hand without a thumb
5.The digit in the hundreds place is 2 less than the number in the tens.
Solve the riddle to find the number and help batman stop the Riddler.

No, I wouldn't call it easy and you are definitely not slow.
I use Trig, Geomoetry, and Algebra every day at work, but do not ask me to balance a friggin check book!

Thank you. The last math I took was college prob and stats, that was easy for me, but it's logical.
Doesn't that seem tough for 2nd grade? My kid is a math wiz like my husband. I'm jealous.

I probably wouldn't have been able to do it in the 2nd grade, but these kids today are sharper than we were. My son impresses me regularly with his math abilities. I am pretty sure that my daughter will as well. Her Dad, although clueless in women, is a brilliant man, and she takes after him in a lot of ways. She screwed up mega big time yesterday. I told him about it, and he is po'd. He is disciplining her today for it, so I didn't have to get too evil on her. I am diggin this!

I know, you told me about the screw up! That's too funny..Someday you'll look back and laugh, but how embarrasing!
And aren't a lot of men clueless about women?

A day after the incident I still am not laughing. She is darn lucky that I felt like hell yesterday.
No man is more clueless about women's emotional needs and wants than he is.

You ok Polly? And it can't be worse than having a teen-aged daughter. Mine turned 17 this week and I made her a birthday cake--and she wouldn't eat it! (I wanted to throw it at her, lol--HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!) If eye rolling was an olympic sport, she'd be the gold medalist!

My 6 year old daughter has coined the word "WHATEVER" with a attitude that is unprecedented.
