The Immortal John Lennon
Most people would post "Imagine" but for me 'In My Life" represents John ( I know all you die hard fans Sir Paul co-wrote this song also)
There are places I remember
all my life, though some have changed.
Some forever, not for better.
And some have gone, and some remain.
All these places have their moments
with lovers and friends I still can't recall.
Some are dead and some are living.
In my life I love them all.
But of all these friends and lovers,
there is no one compares with you.
And these memories lose their meaning
when I think of love as something new.
Though I know I'll never ever lose affection
for people and things that went before,
I know I'll often stop and think about them.
In my life I love you more.
Though I know I'll never ever lose affection
for people and things that went before,
I know I'll often stop and think of them.
But in my life I loved you more.
I love you more.
I love you more.

I was living in Germany with my now deceased ex-husband. I remember being surprized that John Lennon
was gunned down.
Yoko Ono wants this day to be a day of healing and forgiveness.
His music does live on.

I was 10 years old, and I distinctly remember first thinking "who is John Lennon?" - until I heard "the Beatles" - then I was very sad. Even at that young age, beyond the era of the Beatles heyday, I knew what a great loss this was to the world.

I was a 25 y/o mother of 3 little one's. I remember I cried after hearing the news and could not sleep that night. I asked my 11 y/o grandson, after reading this post, if he knew who John Lennon was. He did who he was. I was impressed. At my request he said he would say a prayer for peace. John would like that.

I was six. My parents were HUGE Lennon fans..Both solo and with The Beatles. In fact, my name was supposed to be Aimee, but my parents love the song "my Michelle" so much they named me Michelle.
I remember I used to curl up on the couch in the family room while my Mom played her endless Beatles/Wings/Lennon albums...When Lennon died my Mom cried, I think I did too. It left a huge impression on me.

I was pregnant (but didn't know it)with my daughter. I was in a mall meeting a girlfriend for dinner. She comes up to me in the mall, dressed entirely in black and I said "geez, who died?". She said "John Lennon". She was always VERY dramatic and was a groupie (but not for Lennon), so I thought she was kind of going off the deep end by wearing black. But, I remember the occasion quite well.
Since so many of you are so young, I won't even ask where you were 43 years ago, November 22.

Okay, 26 years ago, I had just graduated from becoming an LPN. I remember working when I heard that John Lennon had died. A bunch of us were in the back room taking a break when one of the other nurses came in and told us.
And 43 years ago, I was in school, 1st grade. I remember the teacher leaving our room for a minute, then returning, crying. She said we were all being dismissed from school because President Kennedy had been shot. I remember when I got home, my mom was ironing clothes in front of the television, crying (my mom never cried, so I knew this was big). She told me to sit down and watch TV so I understood what was going on, that it was going to be in my history book in a few years. I didn't even know what history was, but I remember watching the TV. I also remember watching the funeral procession on TV later.

Let's see- that many years ago,43, I believe I was in the 5th grade and my mom had heard the news and called the school. All the teachers were crying, and I knew it must be bad, but didn't entirely understand ..Karen

I was in third grade and I don't remember teachers crying, but I do recall the teacher explaining the order of succession when the President dies. I was watching TV and watched Jack Ruby kill Lee Harvey Oswald (the one who killed JFK).

I was 8 years old. Living in Jacksonville, NC.
My father was in the Marine Corps. I remembering his death being very sad. I also remembering Martin Luther King being killed. Now years later there is still conspiracy theories about the Kennedy deaths and Martin Luther King.
