Time Limited....

To my DebtCC friends....

My time on the forums will be limited for a while, possibly permanently.

I have some pretty major issues going on with a couple of my kids - my daughter and my older son.

My daughter's situation, I can't do much about, since she is an adult (just barely - 19). But all of you with adult children know that the worries don't stop when they reach adulthood and move out - you sometimes worry more because you can't do anything to help or stop them from getting themselves into bad situations. And any advice you might offer to them as a parent falls on deaf ears, because they want so badly to be independent and stretch their wings.

With my son, there are some issues that have come up just recently that require a lot of time on my part and some professional help. This is made a little more difficult by the fact that his dad lives a few states away and can't be present for any counseling sessions to help our son work out these issues.

I will be checking pm's, and when I have free time, I will respond to any posts I think I can help with, but for the most part, I need to take a break and devote time to my family's situation, and I see my ability to spend any time on the forums being very limited.

I hope that whenever I come back, I will still be able to blend back into the community.

Well, as many of you have probably noticed, I've been able to squeeze some time in on the forums lately.

My son is doing ok right now...things were touch and go for a bit, but he's starting to improve with therapy and support from me and his dad. I just hope it continues. He occasionally makes choices that are not the wisest, but for now, they are nothing more than any normal teenager does from time to time. Nothing dangerous, like the incident that caused all the uproar we had a few weeks ago.

My daughter is not in a great situation, but she thinks she is, and her dad is close by to help her out if she needs it. It's just hard for me to be so far away from her. I suspect I will be a grandmother soon. Not happy about that, but she's an adult and I can't stop her from making choices I don't approve of, just like my parents couldn't stop me when I was her age. I keep trying to be thankful for the fact that at least she's older than I was when I had her. I just hate to see her taking anything close to the same path I did at her age.

Anyway, I'm pretty much back on here, trying to help where ever I can. If I go silent for a few days, it's because life has creeped up on me again and I've had to take a break to deal with it. But you folks are my saving grace sometimes when it comes to being a sounding board! I really appreciate all the kind words via PM that I've received - they have really helped! Very Happy

I am so glad you are back!! I know what you mean by kids!! My youngest is in a situation that he thinks is just great, and I see nothing but problems. I suspect that at some point I'll be a grandma too, the way things are going-and she already has two young ones!! But I found out the more you tell them no, or it's not good for you, there they go!! Pretty much like I did!! HAng in there!!Love ya..KAren Very Happy

Thanks, Karen! I've had some pretty hairy days emotionally. I think I've come just about as close to a nervous breakdown as I've ever been, but it's getting better. It's just slow..but I can deal with slow as long as it DOES get better.
