I have to say something

Message Author
PostPosted: Fri Apr 13, 2007 3:31 pm Subject: I have to say something

Since I am who I am and I say what I think, and I think I am going to say what I think. Here it goes, and anybody who knows me, will know, I always say what I think without holding back. Here goes......

I have been getting very frustrated as of late reading some, well MANY posts. It seems the quality of posts are going downhill. And when threads are started, it appears that the topic gets WAY off topic, and instead turns into private conversations, completely off topic. This is not good. When somebody comes here, they are looking at the title of the thread and when a thread becomes lengthy because others are holding conversations unrelated to the topic, the person looking for advice/answers becomes confused.

Driving me nuts! If others want to converse why not go to the chat room. I know that there are plenty of others WHO DO agree with me.

Post your response. I don't really care, this is my tension reliever.

That's the purpose of the pub, as well.

Thank you, exactly! Plus you shouldn't be racking up points for conversations that are not related to the topic of the thread and provide no use other than to converse.

Well I'll certainly be big enough to admit that I have been guilty. I just went and deleted 2 posts from this morning where I was trying to explain something. I will be very careful about what I post from now on. However, I do also know that the moral support that I have recieved in the last few days has helped just as much if not more than the technical. So there I know I am knew here but that's how I feel.

I don't have time usually to read through every post. But I sort of agree with you.

Once again someone doesn't like the way things are going on the forum so they have to boo hoo about it. Some of you think you are all that and what you say must be true. This is probably the only place you get any respect or people to hear what you have to say

Couldn't be more wrong, when I speak if people don't listen there are consequences for them, that is just a fact of life Mon-Fri. We come here and give our time to help others. You obviously did not.

Shocked Shocked Somebody actually had the nerve to register and proceed in attacking a senior moderator.I do not know Steelers personally but she puts a lot of time and energy into this site and I find it disturbing to have someone with 1 post to their credit trying to raise a ruckus here.

I have to agree with Steelers and Cajun. If it weren't for Steelers and a few others at the time, I don't know where I'd be. She was able to give me moral support without going off track of what I needed to get out of debt. You can give moral support without devoting a whole thread to it. I believe most of us give moral support without getting off track. Cajun, I also think you have given much to the forum that people can really benefit from.

Thank you steelers for posting your post, I totally agree, you will be reading along on a post and then it goes in to 2 or 3 pages of off the topic conversation, it is very frustrating, sometimes I forget what the post was about trying to get back to where the real post starts again. You being a senior moderator, maybe folks will listen, this post is much appreciated by this information seeking debt owner, thank you very much.

wfhn2007, you hardly know about this place. If you had been watching this site for a long time, you would have known the real purpose. I agree with cajun, this guy had the nerve to register just to bash people on his very first post.

We don't remember you ever said anything here. This is your first post buddy and let me ask, are you preaching?

Oh I get it, big bad Moderator wants to dictate what people can talk about! Just who in the hell do you think you are??? Actually, you're right, I fully agree.

If there is a post titled "how do I stop a wage assignment" then I would expect to click on that post and read about a person who got waged and needs advice on how to stop it. Possible replies would include a) revoking it; b) filing an affidavit of defense; c) contacting the payroll department with your objection ... among others. An answer to the original question should not be in the form of another irrelevant question (ie "I have 5 PDLS, how do I get rid of them"), or other small talk that doesn't pertain to the subject.

On occasion (like the example above of someone asking a totally different question within a thread), I have used the Mods' power to split a thread up, and I move that post to it's own thread.

I sincerely apologize for this. I know today I made a post and it went way off topic. I didn't do it on purpose and I was not trying to earn points for nothing. I will watch myself now on and try to make sure my posts are of a higher quality.

I feel there is no harm if the personal talk is related with the topic, just to make the point clear or related to the subject. I think it can be given a personal look from individual's point of view. The post will keep itself in and around the topic.
